In terms of true ambition backed up with actions I put QPR first at this moment by a long way ... to build a new stadium, conquer Asia, new training ground and be the most active team in the transfer market sort of backs up my point. If you measure overall club progression then again we are in the mix. You add to all of this the potential funds then there isn't any team close. We are currently doing all this at a slow controlled rate ... imagine if you can what will happen when certain building blocks are in place. At the moment its a race to self-sufficiency ... people talk about ambition we are doing it. We also have the advantage of having watched how not to do it by Arsenal who are now a soul-less disaster story and more lately Man Cities attempts at buying it all too soon
( who would back them not to win it this forthcoming season?). In your 8/10 clubs QPR must feature as having the potential and i firmly believe that this board will take our club into areas that this time last year we were dreaming about ... Flair Location and Money ... Chelsea are the current champions of European football. Arsenal and Spurs in Limbo, Liverpool deluded, Everton no money, Newcastle I grant you will come again, United are in automatic mode, City have achieved and so it remains to see if they can sustain? ... If you think the remainder of the teams not mentioned beat QPR in terms of ambition, progression and delivery then go ahead and make the case please

There are several teams with ambitions of European/CL/title winning positions... QPR may have admirable ambition but it's not like they're the only club looking to move up or solidify. The rest of the league isn't standing still.

Looking forward, City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle all have the squads and infrastructure to stop QPR from progressing beyond them.

Everton, Fulham, and probably Swansea have better teams currently, and will look to improve or at least solidify.

Also, I don't think you can class a club's status as 'deluded'. There is a myth that Liverpool fans expect to win the league - we don't. We'd probably take 5th and bite your hand off for 4th right now (we've fallen a long way in a short time).

Sorry, but the league is very tough and the competition is fierce. I admire your optimism however.

Things change, look at Liverpool of the 80s, then Man U.

10 years ago youd have been laughed at if you said Man City were going to win the title.
No one is expecting us to do that but we are going to go to another level once we get the stadium.

We will have world class training facilities, top quality scouting and a truly unique stadium in 2-3 years time. Our infrastructure will be as good as anyones then.
Why would players sign for liverpool or newcastle then when we can compete with them and will have the advantage of being in london.

Fair post. However, I think we're only a Hoillet and Samba away from having as good a team as Everton and Fulham. Already better than Swansea. But I'm obviously biased.

Well, both the teams you mentioned already have world class facilities, better stadiums and top quality scouts.

They also have the power of their brand (especially Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Chelsea).

The Man City situation is relatively unique, outside of say, PSG or Anzhi.

Why would you go to QPR for London when Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs also play there? Good players will probably sign for them.

Besides, if you had a player that was in demand, could you keep him? Would he stay?

And to ColdharbourR, Everton don't have a particularly deep squad so you aren't massively behind, but they do have some seriously good players - Fellaini, Baines and Jageilka would get in to most PL sides. Fulham are pretty solid as a whole, but with a series of signings you could look better on paper, yes.

Bang on Flyer... what price would you have got 10 years ago that Man City would be a dominate team? also to the fickle remember how we played against them last season OK we lost but if points were awarded for effort? ...City are on record as saying that QPR gave them the two best games of the season

Haha my family have supported Liverpool for generations, before, during and after the glory years! Unfortunately I'm in the 'after' part when all's said and done.

Thanks for the responses guys, I feared you'd mistake me for a poor WUM. I'm just a glass half full sort of guy!

In fairness mate, you've stayed and stated your point well and deserve credit.

For you guys at Liverpool, I feel that the infrastructure and support are as good as ever but you need owners that genuinely understand the game to progress (the last bit we can empathise with given our previous owners).

I don't mind that you don't see the huge strides we're making (I'm starting to get the impression that it's a fairly common view outside of the club) but, whereas last year it was a case of mercenaries, this year is not the case - everyone signing is talking about the direction the club's heading in and the ambition (even people signing extensions). There is a buzz in and around the club, on forums and everywhere you find a QPR fan (and no this does not happen every year - this isn't just more pre-season optimism).

People will stick us in the same bucket as last year but I like the fact that they are underestimating us - do so at your peril. Of course, it is football and it can go wrong when the games kick off but I'm more excited than I've ever been about what's happening and so feel invincible - you'd be lucky to find one of us who doesn't.

I think the simple answer is that we need a real cash injection and one or two quality signings. The money we spent last season was largely due to the club being bought at administration price, and it was largely wasted. On the flip side, we're making large strides to financial health - our kit deal for example is the best in the league.

I can imagine the positivity you must have, we had it last summer, believe me. This last season has left me a little hopeless, especially since we didn't win the league in 08/09, when we really should have. I'm afraid I'll never see it, and I'm 18 for goodness sake.

Undoubtedly I think you should improve, but there are no guarantees in football, and the top teams really are strong at the moment, arguably apart from us (and Arsenal), which is disheartening.

If I was a glory hunter I'd be a bloody poor decision maker!

One thing supporting LFC has given me is an acute realisation of constant disappointment.

They wont have better stadiums after weve built ours. We are already going after the same players as Newcastle for example in Hoilett.
Why would players go to us instead of the other London clubs? Playing time just like Park has.

Fulham are on a big downward slide, lost lots of players and havent bought anyone, looks like it could be the 1st stage of them imploding.

We may be in London with the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea. But there is a saturation point for signing the right players. And they haven't always got it right. So we have every chance to pick up new and improved players. As well as youth developed players of our own once out system is in place.

You're only 18? You write very well, both content and style, my compliments to you and the Northern Irish education system. And that feeling of constant disappointment is something we've grown used to, so you'll have to forgive our exuberance at the minor miracle that is happening at our club.
Good luck for the coming season.

You mean the one started by Flanman about a Real Madrid player - what crucial part are you playing in that?

I don't know if you've seen the rest of the QPR board but we can actually string the odd conversation together without even mentioning your name and this thread, aside from your comically egotistcal interjections, would have been no different.
