This rumour seems to have some substance to it, Fee looks like it could be near £4.5 million, is he worth it ? Though if he turns out be as good as Park ji Sung it would be money well spent.
As mentioned in one of the articles, it would also be a good move by the owners to draw in an Asian audience...
Looks very good in the links shown. But even if there were any truth in the rumour he wouldn't find championship defences so accomodating.
It's a big chunk of cash for one player. It would be a statement of intent though. Most of MM's targets seem to be teens to early twenty's. Just need to blend a bit of experience in there now!
He looks quick in those YouTube clips, others have made the transition from j league to European elite leagues. I see no reason why he wouldn't succeed in the championship. 4.5mill is a lot of money but at 22 and being obviously marketable he could be worth double that pretty quickly if things work out in English football.
Hard to say that without knowing what budget mm is working with. We have made a few hefty offers for players. Its easy to think if we do sign one big money player that'll be it but I'd be surprised if MM is willing to spend his whole budget on one player. If we do spend this (it's still a very big if IMO) I'm confident there must be further funds available too.
South Korean football team wiki page says Kim Bo Kyung's club is Cardiff City and his current club on his page is Cardiff City. Also things look great that Bellers is coming home. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOking good
"Ilgan Sports have also reported that Kim's agency turned down a €6 million [£4.7m] offer from Park Chu-Young's former club, Monaco. According to the report, Kim declined the offer as he wanted to avoid a Monaco residency visa and military duty issue similar to Park's." So was the offer enough? I really do not think the amount quoted is realistic. If he's that good why haven't any of the bigger clubs sniffed him out? 4.7 million is a bit steep for him. If it happens I hope he turns it on really quick as he'll get stick big time if he flops.
Couple of points. Firstly, it was more likely the expected military duty that made him reject Monaco, not the fee, so he may go elsewhere for less. Secondly, people say about it being too much out of MM's budget but no one has any idea what that budget is. It could be 20 million for all we know. If he is as good as people think and he gives us speed and width he will be worth it with the players we already have. Him on one side, Bellers on the other. bliss!!
Xsnaggle I know the reason why he turned down Monaco and thinking about it, to have turned it down meant the 4.7 million was enough. I still think it's to much for a player we know little about. I hope he's as good as the price tag, if not better, for his sake. I don't think it's to much based on MMs budget as I, as you rightly stated, and other do not know the budget. Tis a gamble methinks but in MM we must trust.
Don't know much about him, but what player that Malky has been interested in has let us down yet? This man knows the players he wants and th attributes, so this guy must be worth it. Bring him in, let's get some good news!
Is there some return on investment expected from the Asian market? Tan may be lining up a TV deal to get his mates accross the continent tuning in to his TV channel to watch their new star player. He may spend more on this guy than a Brittish player of similar ability as he can see a chunk of that money coming back through a different door. Could be a similar thought process going on with Park going to QPR!
remote, got to agree with you, smacks of an Asian deal, not a bad thing I guess but I hope VT isn't another Abrahmovic.
It's a fine line Taff. If it's a joint decision between MM and Tan, with MM saying he's good enough and Tan saying it's OK to pay over the odds that's one thing. Tan starting to manage the side something totally different. Hopefully its mutually acceptable. I'm not saying we will, but if we get this guy and Bellamy, we won't see either until late in pre-season as they're both in the Olympics. Does anyone know if there are any triallists lined up for the Swiss trip? Looking forward to seeing Mutch and Harris pre-season.
I understand that an undisclosed big name will be joining him for some winter sports while in Switzerland. Star, ski and Mutch.
