This is very likely. If he comes, he'll probably do some work with the youth set-up too, given his coaching CV. Will be a good appointment IMO.
No idea mate, well, not from what I've seen anyway! Not getting a look in at international level either, didn't marseille finish about 10th or something? Hmm. Not convinced.
lets get in Falcao..AVB loves Falcao and Falcao loves AVB...and i wont feel as though we have wasted money..this new batch of French strikers do not convince me
The one I really don't get is Sturridge. The only reason he's being linked to Spurs is that Chelsea don't seem to want him. Meanwhile, if you were to design a talented striker you wouldn't want at Spurs--at least in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1, you'd get Sturridge.
Not sure about that, RWAEB. It's hard to tell how well Sturridge might do in our system, as I don't think he's played enough games in it to judge. He's young, he scores goals and he played quite often under Villas-Boas at Chelsea, but I think it's just more journalistic join-the-dots.
I sometimes like Sturridge but his decision making at times is nothing short of ridiculous. I realise he's young and still learning his trade but even so - there comes a point where you go 'that wasn't even logical, let alone an intelligent move' As for Falcao - haha I'd laugh so hard if that were to happen - truly would be a marquee signing!
But Atletico would require a substantial mark up to sell him. I'm not saying that Falcao would cost us €40m, it's what he cost them!
Plus stonking great wages to make up for the fact that the rate of tax in Spain is about 20% (could be less depending on the ability of his lawyers).
would love Falcao mate, but I think PNP's hit the nail on the head. obviously none of us know yet, but there is a chance that the days of us not being able to afford £30 odd mill players, could well be over! However, I think Falcao is Game over, and to be honest... that sort of money is just ridiculous. I don't get sturridge fullstop. well, not with a move to us anyway. He seems like a good player, but I just cant work out how he'd slot in to the first team? he'd be a regular player from the bench, IMO. not because he's not good enough to start, I just don't know how he'd work for us in the right way?? he's not an out and out centre forward in a 4-3-3 and I think Lennon is more dangerous on the right. Therefore, he goes into the "defoe" category for me. It's 10 odd mill on someone who's no different to defoe who we already have (both good players who will score goals), but there's no cutting edge. - and it's cutting edge that we need in our strike force for next season. why spend 10mill or so on Sturridge, when we could put it towards another player?
yeah, fair enough Tots, but to you think he's got the right attributes to play in Adebayor's role? I don't think he's the man for it personally.
As Roo points out, I think he'd probably make a good Defoe replacement, but that's not really what he's looking for. Perhaps he could be persuaded to move by Villas-Boas, as he'd probably get a good number of cup games, assuming we sign Adebayor? I think he'd rather move to somewhere where he'd be starting regularly as a striker, though.
put it this way Tots, I wouldn't be happy or particularly confident next season if our strikers were Ade, Sturridge and Defoe. - that doesn't "mean business" in my opinon.
