Is it the hot weather and facilities in Portugal the primary reason for the City squad going there....nope..it was because Stevie B was playing in the Bobby Robson charity golf tournament. Now although this was a long term commitment, others have withdrawn due to gaining roles with new clubs. At a key moment with his new team, was this a decision for the right reasons?

Maybe because in Portugal there's a lot less hookers than in Slovenia <ok>

The players have gone away for warm weather training ahead of every season for the past several years, as do most clubs in the top two leagues, it's got **** all to do with Bruce playing golf.

Though he is responsible for global warming, the death of JFK and the Cuban missile crisis....probably.

Sorry, I can't for the life of me see your point.

I'm willing to bet the training camp has not been organised int the last 5 weeks since Steve Bruce arrived. But even if it was, how on earth does Steve Bruce playing in the Bobby Robson Charity Golf Tournament have anything to do with us having a warm weather training camp in the Algarve? And even if there were some tenuous link, what the hell does it matter so long as the training gets done in warm conditions where injuries are far less likely?

    Bemused!

I'm pretty sure we've been to Portugal a few times? And didn't we play SB's Sunderland out there once? So he likes to take his teams out there! If he takes time out to play a charity golf tournament so be it, as long as the lads get some training in who cases!?

Lads Lads.....as per normal on here individuals respond quicker than their brains think......its got **** all to do with the sun, we all know they go for warm weather training every year....this is to do with commitment. Other new managers and trainers have chosen for this year to miss outand yet our new "very expensive manager" choses to commit in effect what is 2 days of golf and client hospitality. For the relativeley short period the players are there (under assessment) this seems like a strange decison and questions his judgement at his time. Nice to seee he has supporters though!!

Bruce always takes his teams to Portugal, we even played Sunderland there two pre-seasons ago. Dont worry thou Phil, im sure when city lose acouple of games you'll be back telling us how poor the side is. Hate fans who can only ever find negatives.

Stop digging Phil, Bruce didn't arrange the trip and you're making yourself look a clown.

Yep...I know its contentious OLM. Brucey used Portugal a couple of years ago and Germany last year. Although I am in absolute agreement with his appointment I find his decision in this instance disappointing. That is my discussion point.

Steve Bruce will have hundreds of contacts through such events, this can only be agood thing for the club, Bruce will know exactly what hes doing, he has been doing it for over ten years after all.

What is contentious about a person being able to fulfil a prior commitment at the same time going on an already arranged warm weather training. Bruce has his coaching staff and assistant manager to look after things. I think Philhul is trying to find problems that are not there
