Good speech Frank <applause> I like your thinking and in the end whoever is wearing the Red shirt next year we'll be right behind them and R Buck and it will undoubtedly be a season of some interest <ok>

he went for the money and we at swansea have a strict wage policy and we wont break that for anyone, he agreed to £30,000/week with us until rodgers rightly left for liverpool and he used that to get more money saying to us that he came to swansea because of rodgers and he now wants to follow rodgers.......what a lot of old pony that was because the minute spurs came on the scene he played liverpool off against spurs and spurs won by offering him £55,000/week. ..the greedy lying idiot even had the cheek to come back to us and said if we give him £60,000/week that he would complete his signing for us.......we told him to fcuk off as we want players who want to play for us and not just for the pay packet.....Spurs will find out soon that he is nowhere near worth £55,000/week but its their problem now they are stuck with mr greedy.....

Yet another one condemning us for displaying an attitude that exists only in their head.

    thanks for the info there.

all i can say is there are a number of ways to look at these things and i am personally hoping but not expecting.... the evidence will be who is actually signed.

I still think you can form a view on the one hand that this episode is one piece of evidence to show rodgers has a lot to learn in the big league and needs someone to guide him but refused that so we have to watching him learn.... and on the other hand you can indeed form the view that LFC has a plan that doesn't include paying that much wages to a guy who is potential not a finished article and that plan will have a lot better players coming in on those higher wages.....

if you beleive the latter you might think... hey if spurs are going t opay that much to one midfielder they will end up not having the 2-3 new forwards they need.

But that's why you have a manager/ management team (damn I'm old because that's doesn't sound right)

You trust that your manager knows which young player is worth going to the board & saying pay whatever it takes or..don't risk it.

I have to say as a fan rather than professional, I've got to put my trust in the guy we hired & in this case the guy who has more than even Spurs have: day to day knowledge of the player in question. This is the line LFC has to wake up to if you're talking realism:

We can not afford to gamble overpaying 50/50 could be's. And yes I understand; too cautious & you get nowhere. But doubling your money every time on a gamble will quickly leave you broke not rich.

Well how are you going to get to a top 4 position, if you can't match Spurs? Are Spurs the bigger club now? From where I'm standing it sure looks like, and lets be frank here, as good as Siggy is, and he is good, he's no Torres, and I notice you are being linked with Borini, who I rate highly, having watched him play for us at the Liberty, how are you going to get him from Roma? if you couldn't get Siggy!.................. <ok>

I think Roders had an idea on how much Siggy was worth transfer fee and wages, he then decided not go go above those figures, if he had really thought he was worth more I imagine he would have offered what was required.

It will be the same for Borini, Rodgers will have a maximum figure for the transfer and the wage. This mentality only becomes a problem if we start missing out on lots of our targets. I would like us to get Borini more than Siggy.

Well good luck to you, because if you do get Borini, then you'll have got yourself a great player, and twice as good as Siggy would ever be, best striker I've seen in a Swansea shirt since Alan Curtis, would love us to have got him on a permanent deal, just hope that no one else comes in for him, as I'm sure clubs will have noticed what Spurs did!.......... <ok>

This is one transfer deal we're talking about. The exception, not the rule.

Replace "couldn't get" with "didn't want".
At the asking price, of course.

i don't think we can say either couldn't get or didn't want unitl more data points come up... one data point is not a trend. lets see what happens with transfers next cos frankly who we do buy will tell a LOT. the manager is on record as wanting 3/4.. if i hear he's suddenly happy haivng seen all his players well my prediction for the season when i make it might rile a few reds

  13. A manager saying they would like to sign three or four player is one thing, actually signing them is another. I certainly don't want to see him signing anyone just to fulfill his words. I'd rather only sign one player, or even no one, than sign the wrong players <ok>

that is true but if he says it and fails to deliver it then you have to admit that its better he doesn't sign any old dross but still he's failed in what he set out to do... the question then is was he hamstrung by the club day one.

    time will tell.

  15. You could ask that question but then, whats the point since we'll not know for a long time anyway? Plus, if he only signed two players but they where over £10m each, wouldn't that suggest the owners where backing the manager? (unless we sold over £15m worth of talent as well of course)

The one thing you can guarantee with rodgers is he knows the market and he will not pay over the odds for any player, and to be fair to him if a player is trying to pull a fast one he will just move on. his contacts within the game are second to none so expect a better player than siggy to come in probably a lot cheaper as well

It shows with the Gylfi saga, that he is not willing to be held over a barrel. I really like what I have seen from Rodgers so far, and think he is exactly what we need. But we have all seen to many false dawns to get carried away.

I am looking forward to the new season with a sense of optimism, more so than if Kenny had remained. Only time will tell if that is the correct judgement.

I get that also and agree with DPJ that if Borini is a target, he is the better player.

Agree, It is clear to me that if Rodgers had wanted Gylfi, our board would have backed him, it looks like Rodgers made a stand, treating the clubs money as his own. Everything I have seen from Rodgers so far has really filled me with optimism.

But of course, results on the pitch are all that really matter.
