The club are still making odd decisions, adding to their wage bill whilst in admin. Both these stories from today... - Pompey told they can't recruit any players Neil Allen ‏@pn_neil_allen #Pompey have been told there will no Football League change in stance over recruitment. Means club still cannot sign players. - Pompey appoint head of recruitment http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Dowling-Arrives-As-Head-Of-Recruitment-3505.aspx
It's not a loophole to get parachute payments. You get them anyway when your relegated from the top div regardless of financial circumstances. We only started paying silly wages from 2006. We owe nothing to Milan Manderic. And the high wages were being bankrolled by Gayademak. The same way almost every football club in the country is, including you. How do you know the parachute payments will go to players wages? Are you part of the financial team at PFC? If you read some message boards around the last time we were taken over by CSI, you find that all Pompey fans were confused by their approach of quality not quantity Fans even emailed our ex CEO asking him why we were bringing in players with high wages but with no answer. We wanted our young guns to be given a go, coupled with a few free bee's and loans to keep the wage bill down. But our ****** of an ex CEO saw differently. The parachute payments if done properly will go to paying of debts. That's where initial funding will come from if the PST is successful. The only way the CVA will be the same as last time is if Chanrai is in charge. He will try to claim the parachute payments for himself, which in turn will increase the level of debt attached to the club. As you say in a few years we'll be back where we started We cannot give up on the current club because it would not be as simple as it "dying quickly". Chanrai will take the club and bleed it slowly for the next few years until he's satisfied. Not an overnight thing.
The "cheating" the club did from 2006 to 2010 when it was relegated saw it relegated in the same season the parachute payments nearly doubled in value and paid over 4 years not 2 as previously. Had you been relegated in 2006 you would have received significantly less in the way of parachute payments.
There were many threads on the old 606 about this, and everything on here is directed to the world at large, not yourself. And I wouldn't call it an old memory, but then again, age is a relative concept.
I didn't say that at all. I said the financial doping the club received allowed it to survive in the top flight for longer than it should have been there and aided in it "winning" the FA Cup. Had it been relegated in 2006 it would have received smaller parachute payments over a two year, rather than four year period as it is now doing.
Yeah right. In comes the dirty money from daddy, a few transfers & player wages later, out goes the clean money to Daddy.
............ and still no signs of a criminal investigation......... Also you might need to add "allegedly" to your statement.
My point is, if you're still harping on about threads from the old 606 which closed well over a year ago, it would suggest you're not over it.
What your point? That the club payed over the odds like every other club so it could receive more in parachute payments?
Come on Guys and gals....it is no good blaming each other for have different ways of looking at things. What has happened to Pompey may not be the fans fault just as what happened to the saints a few years ago. What nobody can deny is that it happened. Unfortunately to Pompey more than once recently, not to mention the same thing happening in the past too. It does embarrass you as a fan. To be fair though, there was a minority of Pompey fans that did a first rate job of turning the knife when saints were down and almost out. That cannot easily be forgotten. I am sure the minority of Saints fans that keep bringing the subject up will have a different topic to have a go on about in a few weeks time. I can understand why it gets on the Pompey fans nerves that tend to post on here. As to my knowledge non of these tended to be the ones to twist the knife during our problems. As most are decent posters that are just embarrassed by the whole Saga. However guys I have to say while I don't agree that it should be continually brought up. It isn't going to go away and will continually be an embarrassment and that as they say is tough cookie for a few years to come. You guys are just going to have to tough it out I'm afraid. As for the FA cup thing........ that too happened.......again it is not likely to go away that easy. Unfortunately there is a minority that want to bring it up time and time again.......I don't happen to agree that it is necessary. However on that score the feeling of how it was obtained is not just a "Saints thing". Granted it is mainly Saints that keep on about it and again a very small minority. You are just going to have to tough it out about that too. Finally please remember you are on the Saints board and it is a sure bet you are not going to get too much sympathy when discussing such past events are you?
I don't mind it being discussed Beddy. It's when it's discussed using ill informed views. However i cannot blame people from having these ill informed views because that is reflective of how complicated Pompey's situation is. Even we don't know the full facts of whats gone on. It's only recently been found out that Gayademak jnr wanted his money back because Gayademak snr had been sued for 24mil buy a certain mr Chanrai for example.
I think that is crux of the matter too. I am sure as your nearest rivals it is natural for those that are of an extreme opinion are likely to add in the worst scenario. Just as your defense, which again is natural is just as likely to be flawed because of lack of information. As someone else said to my knowledge there is no criminal investigation which I think both sets of fans would agree should of happened.
