Your first paragraph makes no sense. We cheated to get para payments? We get the PP because we got relegated.

Yes it is mad to try and take the club on at the mo. And as you said there is a long legacy of debt. But that will be somewhat fractioned by the CVA if approved. The PP would be partly used to pay these debts along with spare gate money once the club is breaking even (providing we can shift the hefty wage bill previous ******ed CEO's have left). Its a possibility we'll be back in trouble within the year, but as the CVA is based on the wage bill being sliced and breaking even within 1/2 years, it remains a possibility. With Chanrai it's a certainty as he'll take whats left then leave us to die.

Starting a phoenix club is the very last resort. Letting the club die won't happen because that's called giving up and we don't do that. Plus Chanrai will just grab the club anyhow. He would have already if the PST hadn't done so much work.
 
What has gone before is history. A history that has become blemished of late but still a thing of the past.

If their fans can find a way to successfully keep their team/club alive then I for one back the idea. It was not the fans fault that some skulduggery made their club fall apart as it has done. We need the rivalry to continue and for one reason and one reason only. So that we can remove the memory of the last few games and give their side a real doing over. You don't manage to get bragging rights on your closest rivals if they drown.
 
I see PFC very much the way I see Greece. Both are bust, and the sooner everybody realises that and lets them go under the better. Why don't the fans just let Chanrai have the club and asset strip it as much as he can (although I fail to see what 'asets' the club owns), and they just start a phoenix club now? IIRC a fan already owns the Portsmouth Football Club name? That way you get certainty, and ALL the debt disappears. Plus I also thought that failing to play the players would breach the football creditors rule, which would lead to some significant points penalties?

Cos that wouldn't be "quick and painless". That would happen over years. Starting a phoenix club while the original is still being dragged along wouldn't work either. We would need the full support of all PFC fans and some would still support the original cos that's the one they grew up with and followed for a life time. To some it wouldn't be the same club.

Its simple, It wouldn't be viable in anyway whatsoever, because a lot of people won't go to the park while he's doing his utmost to recoup the money he thinks he's owed (even though it's his fault he lost it).

With the PST in charge I can almost guarantee the gates would be high and with the wage bill being slashed this year (hopefully) and the end of next season with contracts running out, the club we would hope would be breaking even and reaching the dizzy heights of after tax profits within 2/3 seasons.

Yes, Pompey cheated to win the FA cup and to get the parachute payments. For pretty much the entire time the club was in the Premiership, it was paying out almost twice as much as it was getting in from income. It wasn't publishing accounts, it wasn't paying its taxes. That's cheating. It was the first prem club to go into administration and yet via a few loopholes managed to keep its parachute payments... a payment for failure.

I'm sure you said the same thing about the last CVA! It had the same conditions attached to it, which were totally ignored. The madness of your situation is that I fully expect some Pompey fans to be putting pressure on whatever board takes over to buy in new players. Still doesn't to have sunk in that you should only be playing kids. This CVA will be no different to the last, the parachute payments will go on players wages, not on paying off debts. Back to square one AGAIN.

You SHOULD give up on the current club. It's a club in name only, the soul of the club is its fans, not whats written on a legal document. You must all be sick to your back teeth of nothing but negative news everyday (believe me, we've been there as Saints fans so we do know) so much better to have a clean slate instead of trying to give the kiss of life to a corpse.

Unfortunately Pompeymeowth, I think it'll always come back to that record until there is some movement in a different direction for you club. I only hope for your sake and for football's sake, that you are not on a merry-go-round

There was never going to be a statue.

There was more chance of us giving the money to Southampton for a statue of Markus than Pompey fans agreeing to have a statue in Portsmouth.

It is not the comments on here that are like a stuck needle it is the repeated cycle of dodgy dealings, debt, administration, dodgy dealings, debt, administration etc that constitutes the life cycle of Porstmouth Football Club football club.

PFC is a non sustainable club with its small fan base and poor facilities.
 
I know that there are long memories in football but really, I think its time you Saints fans with a grudge move on. Yes, Pompey spent money it didn't have, yes, Pompey failed to pay its debts or taxes, and yes, Pompey won trophies and spent years in the top division while living beyond its means. But the club is paying for it now, and has been paying for it for the last few years.

Dont keep having a go. It gets tiresome and only make you look petty and bitter, especially considering the current positions of you own club financially and in the league in comparison to Pompey.

As I have said before, I couldn't give a toss about the rivalry, and I actually like Southampton as a club, but there are some people who really test my patience, people who just cant resist recycling the old tired, bitter, hateful routines even when the subject matter under discussion has nothing to do with it.

Second referance to Pompey's 2008 FA Cup win in this thread - a Southampton fan, post number 87. CBK: "Yes, Pompey cheated to win the FA cup and to get the parachute payments"

Not one single mention of that FA Cup win made by a Portsmouth fan in the entirity of this thread - till now.

Yeah, we're really going on about it aren't we?<doh>

Oh? You've changed your post now? Well, we have been paying for. Administrations, relegations, threat of liquidation, loss of most of the first team squad several times over, crippling debt. You honestly believed that looking at the situation Pompey currently faced, that looking at how far and how fast Pompey have fallen in the league and how close it has come to extinction in the last few years that it got off scot free? That everythings a bed of roses and nothing has happened to punish Pompey for its financial misdeeds?

I reiterate, given Southamptons current superior position in both the league and sound financial footing it just makes you look petty and bitter to go on and on about Pompey. I still find it utterly pathetic that there are so many football fans who concern themselves more with what's happening to their rival than the success and good management of their own club.

Very well. Point me to the thread on here where the majority of Pompey fans are going on about the FA Cup win. I have said before, and I shall say it again and again and agains if needs be, that I do not understand why some people on this website have a go at others for things they have seen on different website as if the members here said it. Its all very well "speaking in general terms" but dont bloody well address that to me. I haven't mentioned the 2008 FA Cup win without being provoked to do so in years.

And as for the other bit, it wasn't Pompey's financial memories I was talking about. It was the "cheating to stay in the Premier League and win the FA Cup" comments. Those are old memories, the FA Cup win happened five seasons ago and Pompey fell out of the Premier League two seasons ago.
