Everton have singed Naismith from Rangers. That's three definate signings from Rangers to other clubs (Norwich and Sion) that have taken advantage of the "free" transfer. I wonder if we are interested in Steven Davis if we are thoroughly checking out the legal situation on their contracts. It will be interesting to see if Rangers try anything legally to stop these transfers/signings.

If Nigel doesn't think Harding is good enough, then we do need another left back. The Fox deal left a few people scratching their heads at the time, but it turned out to be a good move. Strike while the iron is hot.

Frazer was one of our most improved last year. I can't recall anyone ripping him a new one.

Indeed. And yet when people talk about what we need to sign in this transfer window, every other response includes the words "a new RB".

Not only was he very solid defensively, but he got a ton of assists too.

That said I would like to see a new RB because the thought of Butterfield against people like Silva gives me night terrors.

I thought Butterfield and Richardson were pretty much on a par really. Both fairly good coming forward and capable of a decent cross. Neither brilliant defensively. When we did get beaten the problems normally came from the other side of the pitch (think Bristol and Blackpool).

Butterfield's attacking play is on the same level of overrated as Charlie Adam. Try 20 Hollywood balls a game, waste possession 19 times, pull off a stunner once and bathe in the plaudits.

Richardson was excellent for the first 2/3 of the season, but injury prone, and looked a bit of a liability towards the end of the season, when perhaps he may have been carrying an injury, and he lost his place to Butterfield.
To me a RB is a necessity, with Richardson to be used as a back up,or if he can find his early season form, then perhaps first choice.

Don't forget he got into Sky's (I think) team of the week because of a Fonte cross <laugh>

Serious point about Richardson though, he's an established player in league one who has exceeded expectations and had one impressive season in the championship, it's by no means assured that he would repeat that achievement at an even higher level though.

Doesn't that apply to almost all of our players, though?

Well, a few of them yes. Particularly the defence is quite a worry for me, I know we attacked a lot last season but we let in some very soft goals. Even if Fraizer does step up again, right back is still an area we need to strengthen.

One thing i do hope is rectified regarding Fox, is to try to calm him down in posession of the ball. He tended to just lump it long when under the slightest pressure, often losing us posession.
