Hull City manager Steve Bruce is planning to hold talks with Arsene Wenger regarding a possible deal to sign Arsenal keeper Vito Mannone. Bruce is in the market for a new keeper and appears to have missed out on his top target Brad Guzan after saying the USA international has now decided to stay at Aston Villa. Mannone is another option for Bruce, with the 24-year-old having previously enjoyed two loan spells at the KC Stadium, including making 23 appearances last season. "Vito's obviously done very well here by all accounts but we'll speak with Mr Wenger when he returns from his holiday next week," Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail. "I like the boy but we'll have to see what the situation is." Disappointing Regarding Guzan, he added: "I thought I was close a couple of days ago but unfortunately Brad decided to stay at Villa. "That's disappointing for us because he was our No.1 choice. It's a shame but we move on to the next one. Hopefully, by the time we get back from Portugal we'll have someone in place." Bruce has also confirmed his interest in signing striker Nick Proschwitz, who currently plays in the German second division for Paderborn. The Tigers boss said: "We've made an enquiry about the availability of Nick. It's someone that interests us but that's as far as it's gone at the moment."
Part of me is thinking that means permanent signings. Although I could be wrong and he's also including loans. However yeah I agree with the players who have left in Garcia, Brady, King, Mannone we need more than 3-4 to replace.
We were thin on the ground last year so god knows how thin we'd be this year! I think we need 2 keepers, defender, midfielder, 2 wingers, 2 forwards.
Well we'll definetely get two keepers, we're looking at the German striker and his priority is a right winger I read somewhere. We've also been linked with Coutts, Tunnicliffe and Keane. So that would be 1 striker and 1 winger light of what you think we need.
Heskey still looks like he will be the striker and interestingly he refused to answer when questioned about Anderson.
He seems happy with his midfield so I'm not sure he will aim for any mids. It depends on Simpson really, he might get another chance but if he does then why not ghilas. There we have two attackers which might mean he doesn't want another.
Ex Notts Forest winger now on a free agent He can't be happy otherwise he wouldn't be looking at Tunnicliffe and Coutts. Ghilas is joining Reims on a permanent deal
Well with Andy Dawson and Emile Heskey now sorted. Paul Coutts not far away thats 3 more added to the 19 we had. So 2 of them shall be GK, One more defender and One more striker. Of the players still under contract Ghilas has gone and Messrs McShane, Olifinjana and Simpson have question marks on them. McShane has the biggest as Palace are rumoured to want him back after losing both Scannell and Gardner. Josh King - Michael Keane - Ryan Tunnicliffe would be loans anyway as things stand so you count them as extras IF they do come. Its all looking rather dandy to me.
I don't think that's certain, they'll look at his progress during the tour of South Africa. I know Joyce said he may well be sticking around with them, but to be around the first team squad he has to be in front of Scholes, Giggs, Fletcher, Kagawa, Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson (plus anyone else I've forgotten). Seen as Man U play with two centre mids, I can't see him getting much action in the first team other than the League cup, Fa Cup and 1 or 2 champ league games if they're in a group with particularly poor opposition. I have a feeling they'll loan him out again but we'll see.
We could do with Proschwitz, any idea how much he would cost us? If we can get him then it's starting to take shape but we are heavily dependent on the Man Utd loans. Are you still confident about King rejoining?
