Yes I was wondering about that...... I wonder if GT will be accorded some honorary role... would be significant....
I'll have to say i've read this quote differently......Sounds to me that either Bassini/Timperly/Frensen or even Ashcroft/Simpson wanted/needed to sell the club and approached the Pozzo's with a sales pitch that tickled their ears, and got them interested. Also... What connections does Scott Duxbury and Gianluca Nani have with Watford?, and why/How did they get envolved with Watford and know the in's and out of Watford to be able to sale it to them? Interesting!
I've probably read far too much into it, but i've read it that the Pozzo family asked if these two could identify a club in England that would fit into their 'family'. With a lot of media coverage with regards to our Academy, plus our general development of players (our own and loanees), I would have said we were an obvious choice. Articles like the one Kightly talking about highly of us, and other well-respected managers suggesting we are beneficial to a players development, won't have gone unnoticed! Factor in possible knowledge of financial trouble and Bas struggling to pay bills/wages, then they might have seen us as cheap to buy, with a decent infrastructure (other than the East Stand), good training facilities and a well respected academy!
If the EPPP had already taken full effect, the things in bold wouldn't have been the case. We were months away from quite probably being denied this opportunity, by the greed of those in the Premier League who want to have the freedom to do anything they like with young boys.
This is probably the most positive thread I've seen on here and like some of you I'm excited for the future. One of my work areas is change management and by far the hardest thing to get right early is the buy in from those who need to change. The Pozzo's, with their positive statement, have shown quite a strong leadership intent which is why we're buying into it. The real test is how they manage the resources (including Zola) to take us forward. Visions are good, turning them into reality is far harder. An excited 'Orn, whatever next?
Gotta laugh, I read today that England have moved up two places in the FIFA rankings to fourth. Perceptions are reality, anything is possible huh?
If you are taking a break from the stress of the day, there is a good read in this article. http://www.eachgameasitcomes.com/the-family-club/
Love that article french The EPPP is a no-no The Pozzos might help us get category one status, and give us a massive advantage over other clubs, but that wouldn't make EPPP any less wrong. On the FIFA rankings, I heard that Brazil have dropped out of the top 10?!?
More reading practice if you have the strength left. http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/watford-join-the-football-factory-7911921.html
