Wiki - "Darius Alexis Henderson (born 7 September 1981 in Sutton, England)[1] is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Millwall. He is known for being injury prone, however when fit Henderson is known for his strength, heading ability and his physicality." "ControversyOn 01 January 2012 Henderson was arrested on suspicion of causing GBH[9]." Not a great goal scorer and I recall he went a very long time for Sheff utd without scoring (know anyone else like that?). Doesn't look like the man for us but you never know.
O/T i just saw the place where cardiff would be training in switzerland, i read somewhere they wanted a cool climate, its very hot around 25+ degrees at the mo.......
Views on Earnshaw anyone? IMO an unmitigated disaster all round last season. No question about it, it was a real mistake bringing him back. Could (and should) have been used last season much more as an impact striker off the bench but even when he was near the end he was all huff and puff with no end product. IMO he should be made available for transfer or buy him out of his contract. He is not value for money; his best days are well past him. He does not do any defensive work and closing down the opposition. I really hope Mackay has his eyes on 2 decent strikers, and we don't get to hear their names until they've signed to stop the price going up and the players' agents causing trouble by touting them around.
I guess MM didn't think Earnie had anything to offer last season and he has gone on record saying he saw a future for Earnie at the club. Sound bytes perhaps but Earnie must know it's time he moved on and freed up some money for a younger striker.
I suppose the only saving grace for keeping him is that we will have 7 subs this year again and he will give an option off the bench - depending on what other strikers we sign - please Malky!!! Don't forget that he was signed before Malky came on board. However, the big rumour was that Earnie was off for a final big pay day in the uSA. Nothing more heard of that so far.
Eggo today - Lawrence wants to come back to us and Malky is keen to talk to him. Fact or fiction? If we see the improvements to the squad we expect then he will be no more than a permanent bench warmer. Useful to have but worth the money?
Hi BfB He did ok for us mate, but didn't set the world on fire. Useful at the right price and sensible wages I guess, but I'd like to see us getting something more dynamic and pacey.
Given MM wants 10 recruits and the assumption is that we'll get 3-4 players that could make a difference, 3-4 players to pad out the squad and 3-4 youngsters, Lawrence would be one of the 'squad padders'. Only viable if he takes a pay cut. Would be usefull as back up on the right.
Is it just me, or did Lawrence only really start to impress when it was confirmed that Pompey were definitely relegated?
ITI Sounds about right, he was one of our better players in the last few games and was as pi$$ed off as anyone at the way we played v. West Ham. I think he saw us as his meal ticket for the next 2 years. He will never set the world on fire but could be a useful squad player who has the toughs and knows the division well. Any club needs 1 or 2 like that to get to and stay at the top. As I said earlier, unlikely to be in first 11 but a useful guy to bring off the bench in a holding role and to have as back up for injuries/suspensions. I would take him if his price is right - for us. I wouldn't pay a fee though as Pompey just want him off the books.
I thought he had a very good game against Palace the last game of the season and for me his best game. AS BFB stated he did look hacked off losing to the hammers. Good as a squad player I feel and to have on the bench if needed.
I think that co-incided with MM playing him on the right. Up to that point he was playing him in the middle of the park where he was ineffectual. He looked much better as a wide man (was going to say winger, but that would suggest some pace).
DJ Is that Noone or no one? Another supposed target, Shackell has gone to Burnley for £1.1m - looks like its keogh or bust. Eggo says Malky is on holiday this week so signings could be delayed until Monday.
