If its £6M up front, which is unlikely, that is tremendous business and too good to turn down. In fact even if Holt covers himself in sackcloth and ashes and begs for forgiveness, I would say sorry we are selling you.

Why accept anything other than £6m up front with no ifs and buts? If West Ham want him in their squad, let them pay for him. Why should we be held to ransom of £1.5M on the basis of the move possibly not working out for him or West Ham? You want him; you pay for him.

Blimey - £6m ! If it's true I'd be inclined to take it.

Bet Holty's agent is loving this seems he's getting 10% I guess ....

£6m up front, fine, flog him. if its £4m rising to £6m, don't sell. if they want him that bad they'll pay for him.

as time goes on and with the other senior players committing to the club, i'm personally getting more confident that hughton will persuade him to stay on, with help from mcnally on whatever that means financially within our means.

I agree. Take £6M up front, but nothing less. Many, perhaps even the majority of, deals with provisos/qualifications never get completed, in the sense that the selling club never actually receives 100% of the agreed sum. These deals only really make sense if a club wants to get rid of a player but can't find a buyer. Make no sense if you actually don't want to sell in the first place. If Holty really wants away, maybe he'd put up the £1.5M himself (and arrange with West Ham to repay him if he meets the conditions in terms of appearances or whatever)! I.E. Let Holt and West Ham make some arrangement, and let us have the £6M. :))

what we have to remember is that holt's agent keeps reiterating that holt WANTS to stay but that he is a) unhappy with some things said (poor diddums) and b) wants a longer contract (and more money), so if he is happy to stay then he shouldn't mind that we keep rejecting these offers and will get his head down and do his best for us. if his form drops then he has no excuse. personally, i think his agent is driving all this in order to get a pay out himself rather than looking out for his client. lets face it, holt has moved around a lot!

excuse my pessimism, but since when do clubs alert the media about a bid they are thinking of making? load of page filling guesswork as usual.

Has he ever stayed at a club longer than the three seasons he's been with us?

That may well be a good point.Perhaps he justs get the wanderlust, grass is greener kind of thing. In any case if WHU are prepared to pay £40k a week we are going to have to get somewhere near that to keep him.Welcome to the Premiership world lads.Do we really like it?

If they are prepared to offer him 40k a week then it's time to wish him all the best, thank him for everything he has done and politely ask him to close the door behind him.

If they're prepared to pay £40k a week for him they can afford the full £6m upfront. If they're stupid enough to pay those wages and fee they can have him and lets get it over and done with. I'd rather he stayed but it's starting to grate now, time to close this business one way or the other!!!

It's all very well wanting to move on, but now CH is back from his holiday, Holty is on holiday with his family at Centre Parks in Cumbria!

Doesn't matter too much ok so they can't meet at the moment whilst he's there but at least Hughton is back and he will presumably know what Holt's demands are and can work on it if necessary and hopefully Holty will come back in a better mood, not to mention the transfer request is already on the table we could decide to sell him without any further talks with Holt if we wanted to (if the right offer came in) none of which needs Holty around <ok>
