They probably think they can attract Fernando Torres or Mario Balotelli. ;)

what i mean by that is that he really will have to hit the ground running if they are going to accept him. plus, being a bit older automatically gives him less time. if he doesn't start banging them in immediately then he'll end up rotting in their reserves (assuming he goes there of course!) and that would be very sad

Well on the basis of the three seasons he's had with us this could be a problem as he always takes at least half a dozen games to get going. In each of the past two years there have been many even within our own ranks all too ready to label him "not up to this standard" by mid-September, before he then kicks on and shows us what he's capable of. If he does indeed fail to score in the first 5/6 games and fails to make himself a regular then it's going to be uphill for him to become a West Ham hero, partilcarly with all the other attacking options they have waiting in the wings.

I have read nothing yet which convinces me that West Ham have offered £6 let alone £6 million. This whole thread reads a bit like the plans I make every time I buy a lottery ticket, which is once a year. I know there's very little else happening out there in football land, but seriously chaps........

I can't believe all of you are being hooked into this again. It's lazy journalism. McNally has said that the previous 'bid' from West Ham never happened and yet here we are again. I can't see it happening - West Ham are making low bids if anything and hoping something will happen.

Hi bors, quite an ongoing saga. Let's not forget that Holty has served the club well. WHU are prepared to pay £40k per week. He is worth the club's valuation being the second highest Englishman in the Premier last season. But that does mean £6m, no fancy add ons, to remind Karen Brady, we ain't a charity either.

It all boils down to what Holty wants, he obviously is in no hurry to leave, still waiting for the outcome of his talks with our new manager. Let's hope commonsense prevails and club and Holty settle their differences.

His family want to move back home. So a club up North would suit him better. It's whether the extra wages, and the draw of the Capital is enough to take their mind off going home.

It's a tricky one.Holt had a brilliant season for us after most forecast he wouldn't cut it at that level. One swallow doesn't make a summer though and there is no guarantee that next season will be as successful. But chances are that if he is going to have another good one it's more likely with us than with another club.

We have seen this before.Player is a big hit for us,moves for a large fee and then fails to impress elsewhere.A warning for all concerned and six million won't buy us a guaranteed 15 goal striker.

And there is no guarantee that he'll even make double figures next season. Though having said that, how many goals did Torres and Carroll score between them last season, which backs up your first sentence!!

At the end of the day, if I had to make a straight choice - then I would rather GH was still wearing Yellow and Green next season; I just don't want this saga dragging on beyond next week. If he really wants away, then let's just get the most we can for him and hope that Morison can 'step up to the mark!!' <ok>

As it's only alleged to be 4m up front, it's even less towards a 15 goal striker.
