In defence of CI, when releasing information which HAS been told to you by a reliable source/contact, it's impossible for some people to believe you. Especially if it doesn't happen. What is your IQ?

For the last time, this is not about the accuracy or otherwise of sources. It's about stealing information from other media and claiming it as your own in order to cynically boost you standing amongst those that might buy your publication thereby boosting circulation.

On the Tunnicliffe / Keane thead CI in the form of Ian Waterson were caught bang to rights doing this. And please don't go posting that bullsh1t about it coming from a secondary source, everyone knows that's another complete load of bolloxs.

Ive had my differences with Strov but I totally back him on this. It is NOT about info being correct or otherwise, as I for one found this when I stuck firmly to the story that we had signed that Swiss keeper - which we had but then the pre-contract was broken for obvious reasons. This criticism of CI is about passing off info already in the public domain as a 'we've got amazing sources, arent we brill' exclusive when without fail every single 'exclusive' I have read on there I have already read somewhere else only for it to be hastily written up as a story.

The whole bleating about the Bruce coming has really stuck in my throat when FOR WEEKS they stuck firmly to the Mad Mick story and then all of a sudden when Bruce is unveiled it's 'we told you first, it was us, it was us'. It was frankly pathetic,
 
I agree it is pathetic, but let's face it, it will increase the circulation of City Independent Fanzine, which is why it is done in the first place and the reason why it ISN'T a bit of harmless fun.

I can only repeat what you skated around before. I'm no special case, but in PM conversation I was told about the manager and two players by CI people a while back. I can't be exact about the dates because I saw it as such little significance I deleted it.

Some people just seem upset at being outside the loop. If you want to look in the know, post your gossip. My recollection (not that's it's worth getting all giddy about) is that one of the worsed ones for playing the "I'm ITK lottery" by posting a series of half vague rumours from several angles and then trying to claim they knew all along has posted on this thread.

Again, the issue here is not who knows what, who was right about what, it's about people claiming to have been first to publish information, that they clearly weren't, thereby gaining kudos and resultant increased circulation.
