    Well folks, we've recently had threads for our favourite films, our top ten random tunes on iPods and our best books. So, in this great close season tradition, what are your favourite socks?

    I'll start...

    I have these claret and blue hooped Bench little cuties.

    Knit on 2 Circulars

    Gauge (Stockinette St): 8.5 sts/11 rows = 1&#65533;
    Size: Men&#65533;s Small/Med
    Materials: 2-50 gr balls of Crystal Palace Yarns Mini Mochi
    Crystal Palace Bamboo Circular Knitting Needles in Size 1 (2.25 mm) &#65533; two 24&#65533; or one 40&#65533; if doing Magic Loop method

    Special Instructions/Abbreviations:
    N1 (2) &#65533; Needle 1 (2)
    P(2)SSO &#65533; pass slipped st(s) over
    SKP &#65533; sl 1, k1, 1 psso

    Eyelet Pattern:
    Rnd 1: (K13, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, skp, k13) twice
    All even rnds: Knit
    Rnd 3: (K12, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, skp, k12) twice
    Rnd 5: (K12, yo, skp, yo, sl 2 knitwise, k1, p2sso, yo, k2tog, yo, k12) twice
    Rnd 7: (K14, yo, sl 2 knitwise, k1, p2sso, yo, k14) twice
    Rnd 8: Knit

    Directions:
    Cuff: Loosely cast on 64 sts, divide evenly on two circs and join, being careful not to twist sts.
    Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 1&#65533;&#65533;(4 cm). Dec 2 sts even placed on last round.
    Leg: Work Eyelet Pattern till piece measures approximately 5&#65533; (13 cm); ending with an even round and inc 1 st on Needle 1.
    Eye of Partridge Heel Flap: (worked on 32 sts on N1)
    Row 1: (Sl 1, k1) across
    Row 2: Sl 1; purl across
    Row 3: Sl 1, (sl 1, k1) across to last 2 sts; k2
    Row 4: Sl 1, purl across
    Repeat these 4 rows 8 more time (32 rows)
    Round Heel:
    Row 1: Sl 1, k17, skp, k1, turn
    Row 2: Sl 1, p5, p2tog, p1, turn
    Row 3: Sl 1, k6, skp, k1, turn
    Row 4: Sl 1, p7, p2tog, p1, turn
    Continue working one st more on each row until all sts have been worked.
    Next row: Sl 1, k across
    Heel Gusset:
    With N1, pick up 16 sts along side of heel flap; pick up one st from the row below to help reduce a hole. Follow Eyelet Pattern for sts on N2. With tip of N1, pick up one st from row below, the pick up 16 sts along side of heel flap. Knit remainder of sts on N1. Follow Eyelet Pattern for sts on N2. Note: Continue Eyelet Pattern on N2 until you reach the toe.
    Shape Gusset:
    Rnd 1: N1-K1, skp, knit to 3 sts before end of N1, k2tog, k1; N2-follow eyelet pattern
    Rnd 2: N1-knit; N2-follow eyelet pattern
    Repeat these 2 rounds until the are 63 sts remaining (32 on N1, 31 on N2)
    Foot:
    Continue working plain on N1 and Eyelet Pattern on N2, until foot measures approximately 2&#65533; (5 cm) less than desired length, ending with an even round AND increasing 1 st on N2 on final round.
    Shape Toe:
    Rnd 1:
    N1: K1, skp, work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
    N2: K1, skp, work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
    Rnd 2: Work even.
    Repeat these two rnds until 32 sts remain.
    Work Rnd 1 only until 16 sts remain
    Finishing:
    Holding N1 and N2 together, graft sts on N1 and N2 together using Kitchener st.
    Weave in ends on inside of sock.

    Genius! I was waiting for a torrent of abuse and people calling me a sarky so-and-so. But I actually now think this is potentially the most exciting thread on the entire site. I can't wait for the one on boxer shorts and other undercrackers.

    Us girls noticed a mistake on line 21, "worked on 32 sts on N1", should have been 31 sts on N2, dumbass!
