The difference this time around 'so far' is that we have had a pick off the top of the crop of freebies rather than the dregs at the bottom of the barrel.

Thats true previously we got freebies who teams at the same level didn't want,

safe to say if Norwich werent premier league then he wouldve finished his career there

Thanks to all the Norwich fans for their positive inputs. Seems as though we're part way to having a decent defence at long last. All we need now is for Snoddy & Co. to re-sign, & for White to accept an extension as well. We do need some pace in the team.

& before I forget, good luck to the canaries in the PL next season.

good signing...bit of experience to what is shaping up to be a youthful defence so Drury's years in the game can only be of benefit..plus it's a signing at last..bring on more!

Jock, why would they want to slip down from PL to L1?

'cos they'll be v.old & past it, and desperate to play anywhere. Milwall are very generous in giving a home to pensionable players. <whistle>

    Hi Josh.

I believe it was only a short contract offered, 1 year I think, because of his age - the same reason Grant Holt has had no change from the board, they consider 31+ as "knocking on" a bit and not worthy of long term contracts. Drury wanted longer (as does Holt), so has decided to go (as will Holt very soon).

It is a shame (losing both of them) as they have been really great servants to the club, especially AD. When we got him from Peterborough all those years ago he was touted as the best left back outside of the PL, a status he has hung on to throughout his career with us. As said before, keep him fit and you have a solid pro who will serve you well for a few years <ok> The downside is, should you managed a promotion this season or next, he probably will be too old to continue at the top level (as our board suspect).

Thai, Drury should have no worries about us getting promotion any time soon, Championship survival seems to be the height of our ambition with the current transfer policy.

Cheers Jock. Spot on I feel.

Essex, me thinks you're missing a trick here. Consensus seems to be that everyone except you feels that Pearce & Drury will help us greatly. Time will tell. But bottom line, in Warnock I trust. Let's hope we're all right & you're wrong.

Boggers, I actually think Pearce and Drury are decent signings, but we do need to spend at least £3m to get anywhere near having a promotion chasing squad. The fact Clayton's still transfer listed(the reason being to raise funds) suggests we won't be spending vast amounts any time soon. And I don't believe for one minute we've a takeover to look forward to. So even though the defence is taking shape, we need at least another 6 top quality additions to the squad, and that can't be Adam Drury type players coming to the end of their careers. Significant investment is needed, and the fact our best, young CM remains transfer listed suggests to me the money we need won't forthcoming any time soon.

I don't know how you can place an exact figure on it, Pearce joined for £400k he is worth double that plus some, talks of us getting Peltier for £350k when he cost Leicester £750k last season and despite Leicester fans unsure of his ability one thing they are in agreement with is that he is worth more than £350k. Green out of contract, if he had two years to run what value would be placed on his head? I don't mind signing out of contract players as long as they are good and can do a job for us..

We might have £3 million to spend and Warnock could blow the entire budget on Rhodes at £3 million - It would not give us a promotion winning squad

Cheers Ristac. We came up short last season because our defence wasn't good enough. This is now being addressed. We probably need somone to push both Brown & Clyton assuming for the moment that both stay. We're probably not that far away from having a decent squad. Remember, money doesn't guarantee you success. Just ask Leicester.

It does appear that way LIE. Not a great era to be a Leeds fan I guess but who knows what the future holds? Ken Bates can't live forever so you can take heart that one day he will be gone for certain, to never return <ok>
