It's incredible the number of times you see a player 'go up a gear' when either he wants a move or his contract is up for renewal. Anderton was an expert at it, so too was Ian Walker, and now we see Luka Modric doing the same.

It has to be said that on the evidence of this year, the point is proved false. Modric decided he wanted a move last summer, yet his performances this year were probably not as good as the year before when he claimed to be happy at the club.

Really? I guess the other 10 Croatia players were all playing out of their skin with contract renewals at the forefront of their mind too! Nothing to do with the fact that they are playing for their country, against world and euro champs in a group decider.

Modric will be saying to himself, "I was going to leave when we had an experienced English manager whom the players all loved, but now that Levy has sacked him and is looking to employ a 34 year old, who has never played football at any proper level, and who made a complete tit of himself at the Chavs, that's made all the difference, and I'll be staying put!"

He was desperate to play for AVB 12 months ago HIAG
 
Modric was very good for the majority of last season.
He started poorly after his head had been turned, but settled down once the transfer window was shut, only to have a quiet period when being played out of position during the slump.
Our ridiculous tactics severely limited his influence during that time, denying him space and available targets for passes, while playing him too far up the pitch.

With rumours about both the big Spanish teams looking at him doing the rounds, I doubt either will have seen anything yesterday that put them off.

No, he was desperate to have his wages doubled without having the hassle of moving house. He probably couldn't give a toss who the manager is, any more than he gave a toss about Redknapp.

Make up your mind dude. He either gives a toss and is prepared to move because of AVB or he doesn't give a toss. If he doesn't give a toss then the first is incorrect as he was willing to play under AVB last year. If he does give a toss then your 2nd statement is incorrect

There's no contradiction in what I wrote.

Modric wants out regardless of who we get in as manager, because he wants to double his salary.

But, if we get in AVB, we'll lose more players, because we'll have given ourselves no chance of CL footy.

It's not really too difficult to follow.
 
I don't think I buy these stories about Modric and the Spanish duo. Barca have more than enough midfield players now. Real? Possibly. However, I really can't see either one of them being willing to pay the asking price. For me, the only real possibility is PSG but that would mean he was going purely for money. I think Levy, as reported, would be very reluctant to sell to a Premiership rival. Chavski probably have lost interest. City, I don't believe are interested. That leaves Utd - they haven't got the money.

How can you be so negative? The guy was barely given a chance, and comes with proven pedigree as one of Europe's top young managers. Rewind 12 months and you'd have snapped somebodys hand off for him with us having dropped back into the Europa League, although no doubt you'll deny it.

It sounds like you won't give him any support if he's appointed, but if you want to be like that maybe you should go and support Blackburn. How dour life must be for you.

I support Spurs, have done for many years. I support the players who want to play for us, and I'll support any manager appointed to manage our players.

But does that mean that I cannot voice my opinion as to who I believe should and should not manage the team?

I'm not denying he made mistakes with Chelsea. I'm not even saying he's the right man for the job myself but you're obsession with slamming him before he's even been given a chance is frankly pathetic.

Of course your entitled to have an opinion on who you'd like to manage the team. However to say that you will not back the man in charge and expect wholesale changes on the back of his potential appointment shows that you do not support.

Oh sorry, should i have googled you and found out your job, lifestyle, wife, car, house, knob size? I don't care what you do in your life because I don't have to make contact with you in the real world but on here you sound like Victor Meldrew. I don't happen to work in a factory, but they offer as much to society as me or you. A job doesn't make you a bigger person. It just makes you a bigger tosspot clearly.
