Morning Dev. As a son of Sussex, it's quite a momentous occasion for another team to even be in the league, so I hope they do well. Play offs maybe? Who's next Horsted Keynes? My home team Chichester City have never amounted to much, sadly.
I used to watch them sometimes many years ago, 40p to get in! They won the Sussex senior cup in 1927. Cricket was always no1 though, with Priory Park, near North street, being a beautiful place to watch some grass roots cricket. These two images look to have been taken from (or very near to) my favourite bench. http://www.clubmonkeypuzzle.com/club-monkey-puzzle-assets/parkspirez.jpg http://www.romanycricketclub.com/images/Chichester2.jpg
I never realised you were that old. 8/- was a lot of money for a football match in those days. However did you afford it?
I can just remember the old FP turnstiles. Above one was a sign which read, "Boys 2/6". I suppose the idea of a girl, watching football, in 1970 was absurd to most people.
