That's what the Newcastle chairman John Hall wanted to do when sacking Bobby Robson take them to the next level, and we all know what happened there. In fact when Levy sacked Jol you were heading for relegation until Redknapp came to the rescue. Don't expect miracles you will need a top manager with top experience. Getting Martinez will set you back a couple of years. Whatever happens good luck and hope you finish above Liverpool next year and you get back in the CL.

That's two very dubious looking events just when we were about to pass Arsenal. Now if I was cynical!

    1. It was Ramos not Jol that Harry followed.
    2. We were never in a relegation fight the start that season was not as bad as our finish this season. A glance at the goal difference would have told we were destined to climb the table, whoever took over.

Yeh got that mixed up, sacked Jol appointed Ramos who had I think 1 point for 8 games and then Redknapp came in and was his first game against Arsenal when you drew 4-4?.
Anyway not here to gloat but good luck with whoever you get.

It was his first game in full charge, if I remember right. 'Arry was announced as our manager the morning of the Bolton game and he gave a quick talk in the dressing room and was unveiled before the game, although I can't remember if he was in the dugout.

Clive Allen was put in charge for that Bolton game, but as I recall, Harry had an input into the game from the morning of the match and I do believe the game is included in Harry's managerial record with us. <ok>

Good memory. 'Arry's speech wouldn't have been so catchy if it was 5 points from 9 :D

There will be mousers everywhere feeling a little heartened that Harry has gone, they will see it as potentially weakening Spurs (a club that has gone way past their own) thus hoping they are another club closer to the top 4.

Luke..we are not Leeds or Newcastle...and for someone who spends all his time following Spurs..it surprises me that you expect actual Spurs fans to take it on the chin with the way Harry went on..when it is clearly obvious that not only was Levy annoyed with him but also Joe Lewis..the real owner of Spurs.

yet all your bothered about is how the team did..maybe for you being a United fan..it's all about trophies and absolutely nothing else..for Spurs we like things a bit different..and the way Harry was going on was making him look foolish...and the way he was focusing on his own intrests was not sitting right with Spurs fans...we have a small ground relatively speaking and we have to fight for success..what this builds is a form of unity amongst the Spurs community you wont find many glory hunters..we end up fighting for the same cause..we are not spoiled with trophies or a chairman that throws money away willy nilly....and im damn glad about all this because it makes me accept the finer points of a football club...and im also glad that most Spurs fans realise that with the right man who is focused on THFC...a little bit more than Harry was that we can go further.....because this is a good squad....like it or not but when Harry came we were in a false position.

Harry gave me and many others no doubt, some great memories.

but dont always make out as though it is the Harry show....you follow Spurs so you should know that if anyone tries to get the better of the club then Levy comes into his element...just ask....

    Alex Ferguson
    Berbatov
    Portsmouth
    Modric

and now Harry..it will always be THFC first for Levy...so if we finish 6th,7th,8th next season..i will still know that in the grand scheme of things...it is about Spurs going forward...and yes we might take a step back according to many...but i know we will take 2 forward somwhere along the line.

    in Levy i trust.

Redknapp's 65, has health issues, one eye on the national team job, was unhappy with his contract and had a long commute from his home, which he refuses to leave.
He can't keep anyone outside of his first XI happy, doesn't train set-pieces and has a relationship with the media that many find compromising.
The police clearly don't like him and he's been investigated by journalists on more than one occasion.
Looking at the long game, there are a great many things that could go wrong with giving him a long, expensive new deal.

He did a lot of very good things for the club, but it's clear that he's overstepped some sort of mark with the chairman.
Whether we'll ever find out what that was is debatable, but I doubt that it was totally a football decision.

No Luke it is long sighted. It is a big gamble but it's a gamble for the right reasons and hail to Levy for taking it. The new stadium is coming this Spurs ship is sailing towards a bigger future, many top managers will want to come here.

It's history Luke time to move on. You can tell us you told us so, later.

Or: In 2006 we could have qualified for the CL by beating West Ham, in 2012 we could have qualified for the CL if West Brom did us a favour. It doesn't look particularly good if you look at it that way.

All good thanks, good to see an old name dropping by.
I think we all accept that whilst it's a risk, Levy has his reasons. Prior to his departure it was about 50/50 on whether Harry should stay but now it's happened there's not been too many disagreeing since he left.
Again, I think a lot of us assume there's much more gone on that we don't know about yet. I think we'll find out one day but by then I doubt anyone will really care :D
