But it doesn't matter... even if we played more in plain amber than stripes... the name and stripes surely go hand in hand. The reason why stripes are boring is because we are a small team and adidas can't be bothered... if you look at barcelona's home, ac milan and newcastle, they do generally get different variations of the common stripe.

I like it, won't buy it with the sponsor on it though. Any chance it'll be available without ? Seem to recall Blackburn or someone similar doing that one season...

    Read what OLM posted #114

It's a misconception that we predominantly play in stripes.

I'm with you on that one, would buy it on release day if it didn't have the sponsor.

I think Blackburn did it because they released the kit before the sponsorship deal was complete. They offered fans who'd bought it to have the sponsor applied for free once it was finalised.

So what, what OLM posted #114. Tigers are stripes - not plain. The 1992-93 seasons kit would have been a better change/option for the new season and at least it looks tiger-ish. This strip looks fresh from a Star Trek movie. <whistle>

That would be a good marketing ploy to potential sponsors wouldn't it! "We would like to offer you the sponsor of our kits for a fee but we will not be printing your company name on the shirts".

Bradford are the Bantams and they play in claret and amber, but don't have any actual resemblance to a Bantam on their strip.
Brentford are the Bees but they don't have any actual resemblance to a Bee on their strip.
Sunderland are the Black cats and they have some black on their kit, but no cats.
Hereford do not look like bulls in their home kit.
Norwich, the Canaries, play in yellow but they don't look like Canaries.
Palace don't have an Eagle on their kit.
    Leicester don't look like foxes.
    Torquay don't look like gulls.
Watford play in yellow and red, meant to match the colours of a hornet, but don't have the exact markings of a hornet.
Scunthorpe's kit is made of the same material as everyone else's, as opposed to iron.
Milwall don't even have the colour of a Lion in their kit.
Newcastle have the colour of a magpie, but they don't have the exact pattern.
Wednesday don't look like Owls in their kit.
Man United are the red devils and they play in red, but don't have any actual resemblance to a devil on their kit.

Fact is, hardly any football team looks like the animal they are named after, our 1992 effort was probably as close as you'll ever get, and it was voted the worst strip of all time. We don't look like tigers, we don't need to look like tigers, get over it.

Sponsorship deals cover much more than the playing shirts. The "****" name is plastered all over the stadium for television purposes, the programmes, the training kit etc. The players sport the name on their shirts obviously, a few people wandering around Hull with or without the sponsor on their shirts won't make much difference.

People keep saying this but has anyone worked out how much it costs to deliver? Any German speakers?

And it's not is it, it's the fact that we signed a cheap contract. Adidas would be MORE than willing to make us a bespoke kit but because sales would be relatively low compared to the other clubs they do make bespoke kits for, we would have to make up the shortfall to cover their costs. Most clubs take an 'off the shelf' design unfortunately.

Right..... lets hypothetically say you have your own company - Tyler's Tiles - and you pay 500k to have your name put on the front of a sports team's shirt. Said sports team then announce that they will be selling versions of the shirt but without your name on it, cos the fans would prefer that. What do you think your reaction would be?

Calm yourself. I was merely saying I'd buy it without the sponsor's name on it. I totally get your above example, and might even start my own Tile business, but how many shirts were sold last season ? They are club sponsors, not just shirt sponsors.

But the point is EVERY fan would do that. Nobody thinks the shirt looks better with a sponsor - not unless they're a ****ing weirdo - and they would all take up that option meaning the sponsor spunked loads of money for no reason with the result being we would never get another team to sponsor us again.

Yeah, I know you're right - like I said, I recalled Blackburn doing it - just didn't realize why. It's such a shame we have such a **** sponsor. Another season without buying the shirt.

Ever feel like you've been cheated?

I feared we'd get this kit weeks ago. Typical adidas mass produced crap. The Autheno 12 to be exact. Available for £10.50 without the badge and sponsor.

We're a championship team, not sunday league. Surely it's not too much to ask for something unique.
