Could also be useful in helping younger players to develop their game as has years of experience in top flight football.

I think this is a good thing as if we are getting in AJ and RG on free transfers then we have gained experience and quality for very little outlay. Transfer budgets are not going to be astronomical so this frees up money to potentially sign these bright young players. I am awaiting a signing from left field akin to Diakate (sp), Taiwo and Cisse.

Didn't AJ have his best ever goal scoring season under Hughes? Maybe he can get the best out of AJ again.

the only thing i can say about him is he just put shifts in up front, And works hard and again its good businesses on a free. we all know Cisse and Zamora are going to be our main stike force so to bring him in on a free leaves money for the big signings that we need to bring in. And also Johnson and Zamora have played together for a long time so wont need time to gel which is a another bonus.

He's a goal poacher and I can see him being useful - hopefully leaves plenty in Sparky's kitty for him to make one or two big signings

PS just seen your post, Wrighty. Great minds...

But hes not a goal poacher. I really cant see how he is an improvement on what we already have. DJ and JB didnt score goals. Nor does AJ.

He's better than Campbell and Bothroyd. When either of them got a chance they did sod all with it. Hughes has got a tune out of Johnson before and, on a free, it's decent enough business.

    Last season -

AJ 11 goals in 27 appearances

Betty 2 goals in 20 appearances

AJ's an improvement if he does the same for us

Agree with Ellers. Hughes would not sign a complete turkey. I'm trusting that MH sees / knows something(s) that we don't.

The only negative for me is that it may be a sign we are having difficulty attracting the sort of young, hungry and proven goal scorer that we would all like. All things in good time though.

    As I said somewhere else
I have a mate who is a season ticket holder at Foolham...who says Zamora and Johnson are a real class act, they understand each other and together they are worth 20-25 goals a season. That'll do me

If he is gonna be back up then he should not be another 30+, im not worried about his ability so to say, but there is no point in buying more players over 30, we have to build

Saying hes better than Bothroyd is like saying the racehorse you're selling is better than a three legged Donkey. It means nothing.

Zamora and Johnson may well be able to play together but they don't score an awful lot. That said, he'd be better backup than Bothroyd and Campbell.

Have to agree, a good squad player & on a free so good business - don't think it's realistic to expect 10 Messi's;-)

    I agree completely Swords.

He's a hard worker, keeps his head down and will bolster the squad.

    Not spectacular but definitely OK.

    This !!
Was gonna put exactly the same. Most, if not all were bemoaning the signings of Derry & Hill a few seasons back (me included), if Sparky does sign AJ then obviously he sees a role for him. That's why he's the manager of QPR and we all are not. Let's give AJ a chance first before we turn on him
