Hmm, so Ukraine take all the points against Sweden...anyone worried that we won't get through the groups now? I think i am! Just a teensy bit...never easy against a home nation...

The French news is reporting that France managed to hold England to a draw, not the otherway round.

More from the French press view:

"England created a spiders web that the French forwards were wrapped up in."

"England had a hermetically sealed wall that was too much for the lightweight French attack."

"Time for the English to show that Welbeck, Young or surprise Oxlade-Chamberlain have legs that can go really fast."

My final offering this time from France 24:

Like many British pubs across Paris, The Bombardier was packed to the rafters as fans of both teams suspended the entente cordiale for the 90 minutes of the match.

As the game went on, the atmosphere in the crowd heated up. Cries of “Come on, England!” were quickly met with the riposte, “Allez, Les Bleus!”

“There was a real battle between the supporters – but the French, as always, made more noise,” said Fabien Duffes of Paris.

Hugo Malim, a Three Lions supporter, reflected on the more upbeat mood among the English fans.

“I don’t think we deserved to win, but I don’t think France did either,” he said. “I was expecting more from the French, especially from Karim Benzema, so it’s no surprise they are disappointed.”

“I’m happy with the draw,” he continued. “I was so nervous before the match, but thankfully I have the day off tomorrow to recover from the stress.”

No talk about the refs performance <whistle>, the best team without doubt so far this tournament has been Russia in my opinion.

Pleased with the result, pleased with the performance! France rarely threatened except from distance, although we didn't have many clear-cut chances either. Positives to build on, and hopefully we can beat a poor-looking Swedish team for the first time in a competitive game

Although there were no real big decisions, i thought the referee was poor. There seemed to be a number of fouls for us not given that he happily gave to them, and not sure what a French player had to do to get a yellow card. A lot of 'professional' fouls breaking up an attack, which often results in a yellow card. Maybe he was trying to please Platini <whistle>

I stand by my prediction (and bets) that the surprise packages will be Russia and Italy. Nothing in the first round of matches have altered that opinion so far...

One round of Euro 2012 matches gone, and I think this could be a great tournament. The majority of games were good entertainment, reflecting that the Euros often produce better quality football and more drama than the World Cup.

England can be satisfied with their opening performance. We looked very organised and the French very rarely threatened our goal with anything other then long-range shots. When they did threaten, it helps having one of the best goalkeepers in the world between the sticks. A draw against France was good, but we need to follow this up against Sweden and Ukraine, neither team who impressed me particularly in their opening game. I think a Ukraine win is a good result, especially with us playing them last, with an expected defeat to France hopefully stifling their momentum.

Of the other teams, Russia were impressive, but it was against a woeful Czech team. Will be interesting to see how they do against Poland. Italy really impressed me against Spain, gone are the big names of 10 years ago bar a few, but they work hard and their interesting 5-3-2 formation totally caught out Spain. Still back Germany to win overall though.

Denmark Portugal started slowly in each half but has been a cracking game overall. Denmark suffering injuries to two key players, Ronaldo messing up one-on-one, Denmark level from two goals down. Loving it.

Denmark very poor says I to Mme with them 2-0 down. Just at that moment Denmark score.

"Do you know anything about football" I am asked.

"Not really" says I, I watch Watford. ;)
