Unfortunately the fine establishment known locally as "the sarry heed" has closed down so before going to a gig at the barrowlands on wednesday night one was forced to drink in Baird's Bar. I just wondered why the sign for the toilet says "CELTIC PARK" ??

you couldnt make it up <laugh>

I remember in 1987 before a gig at The Barrowlands going into a pub in the area that was called "Norma Jeans".

Biggest ****in' hovel I've ever been in and the tumbleweed moment when we went in was ****in' awful.

Probably not there anymore but to be named after one of the most beautiful women ever was a complete contradiction.

That whole area is a ****ing cess pit. High street is like a borderline between good & bad. As soon as you cross high street your in the 3rd world. Wonder why that is <whistle>

Bairds is a dump, one of may in that area, always has been a dump.

I used it once when I was going to a gig and my Gers supporting mate was with me, the banter was good and my mate did not mind it at all, however it's not a place I would choose as my local.

As bad as it is there are plenty of pubs in Glasgow which are no go areas for any stranger, Bairds is not in that category.

What about the Lea Rig in Haghill? That was so rough you had to put your name on the blackboard for a fight.

Worst Boozer ever was a dive called the Oxford Tavern, it was just along from the Sarry. It had sawdust on the floor.

I asked the barman "what's that sawdust for?"

He said "that's not sawdust, that's last nights furniture".

**** me, I used to play golf at Ruchill.

Quite often there were no flags and there was just a branch with a beer can sitting on the top <laugh>

What a classy place that was <ok>

Danny McGrain's old Bar in Parkhead was another midden. I think it was called the Pip Inn.

You had to wipe your feet on the way out.

Worst Pub of all was the Bristol Bar (Twinned with the Louden). I went to walk in and the doorman asked me if I had any weapons on me.

When I said "no" he said "what do you want, a blade or a hammer?"
