General consensus seems to be that Jay will be in Southampton tomorrow.

Burnley fans say he lands at 07:35 in Manchester. Terms already agreed via his agent whilst he was in Mexico.

If this is true, he just has to head to Southampton, finalise his contract, sign, and complete his medical.

If this is indeed what is ghoing to happen tomorrow.. then i will be chuffed.

Hope he does sign tomorrow that'll show we mean business!

Just wish the £7 million price tag wasn't branded about as teams could try use this to up certain targets transfer values.

Definitely a downside. However I am sure in footballing circles people know that we are owned by a Liebherr/the Liebherr's.

In which case they will know we are well-backed I suppose.

With a bit of luck hopefully it can all be done by this weekend, wouldn't be surprised if it somehow wasn't done by Saturday though! This is SFC.

Jay Rod will be worth every penny and will probably worth £10 million plus this time next year, I honestly think he will be the next James Beattie and will go on to play for England. I see this signing as an investment into the future of our great club.

Consensus? Not seeing that. Only fourth official are saying he's having a medical tomorrow. Obviously I hope they're right, but according to most sources, it's by no means a done deal.

I'll explain what I meant:

Alan Nixon from the Mirror is saying the end of Thursday is the deadline set by Saints and Jay will be back in the country by then. Chris Boden of the Burnley Express also says Jay returns tomorrow and Saints deadline is Thursday to get the deal agreed and sorted. Suzanne Geldard of the Lancashire Telegraph also says Jay returns tomorrow morning and will head south before the end of the week to finalise a deal in terms of talks and a medical, and Thursday is a set deadline by Saints to get the deal done if Jay wants to sign.

That was what I was referring to PTF. Also talksport and FO have mentioned the deal being complete within 48 hours.

As a whole I would consider that reliable.

Fourth Official is far from reliable regarding Saints transfers.

I'm more than aware of that after the Maynard debacle last year. I wasn't quoting him. I can't see his tweets as he blocked me (and several other Saints fans) - when accused of not being reliable.

PTF referred to him. I stated above what I meant! :D

So everyone agrees he's back from holiday and Saints have set a deadline, but it sounds like only the Lancashire Tele journo has said anything about him travelling to Southampton.

Certainly no consensus that he will be in Southampton tomorrow, which is what you said.

Well I'd like to know how he is going to meet a deadline to sign for Saints without being in Southampton...

If tomorrow is the deadline, as mentioned, he would have to sign paperwork carry out a medical with the club tomorrow.

Also, Lancashire Telegraph have just tweeted the following:

"In tomorrow's LT: Latest news on Rovers season tickets, Paul Agnew's new job, Jay Rod update PLUS IoM TT and athletics."

Vague - but hoping it is a good update for us, I think it will be!!

Have you considered he might not sign?

I know it looks like he will, but you can't say that there's a consensus when basically everyone is saying they don't know anything.

And to be honest, who even knows there is actually a deadline? That might just be rampant speculation. Only thing we know is the bid has been accepted, not that anything else has been agreed.
