We can do better than that, surely.

Be honest Adam, how much do you know about Trotter and how many times have you seen him play?....He must be pretty decent if Managers like O'Neill and Jol are scouting him. Apparently NA had him on loan at Scunny, so obviously knows the player well and rates him highly and that is good enough for me, let's not forget that Jos was a bit of an unknown last season.

Nope you're wrong, any player who isn't a big name and we don't know much about must automatically be ****.

He can't be that good if he is 23 and still playing for Millwall (2nd tier) if he was that good he would be playing in the premier league already...

I can't see us buying him.Not what we need.

Hate to say it lads/lasses, but I agree with some of the earlier posts regards our patience over the summer. Last summer we signed Cork (7th July), De Ridder (22nd July), Fox (11th August), and Hooiveld (Loan - 31st August).

Deals take time, the Euros don't finish til 1st July. Chairmen, managers, players and agents are all on holiday (some players playing for their national team), and even those specifically trying to manoeuvre a deal will usually be met with players and agents who want to wait to see all the available offers before choosing.

Having said all of that, what do we really know at the moment? Other than the fact it's quiet season regards real football for the tabloid papers, so in order to make us keep buying they spout some random stories at a believable level to keep their sales up. Yep, we all like the idea of Rodriguez, Butland, Ince, and while some not so much Trotter, we all believe that they are the type of player (young, english) that fits in with our plan of being the English version of Barcelona for years to come.

Maybe best to take the lot with a pinch of salt until after the Euros, because it's highly unlikely anything will happen before then, and as implied by the above I don't think the media outlets necessarily get it right as often as they guess to sell papers this time of year.

5 days to the Euros ;-)

Wenger was watching him in January apparently. I have watched him a few times and he is absolutely stand out in the millwall side and I would love to see him here, big powerful and skillful, box to box and knows where the net is.

We were lucky he was injured for both our league games last season!

He was outstanding in our cup defeat to them at SMS (The game memorable for the bitterly cold night that turned the most strong willed man into a blibbering wreck)

Lallana is 24, Lambert is 30, I could go on. I'd sign him over some of the ****e that already plays in the PL.

Trotter has potential to get better playing with and against better players, He is too good for Millwall, and like some posters have already said, lots of players sit in lower leagues for years before getting a chance at the premier league. I remember people saying Lambert may struggle as we moved up a division, and that Hammond's was league 1. If we pick up someone like him for £2m, it would be a good bit of business for Saints and I certainly think he could do a job for us in a well organised Saints team.

A comment from a Millwall fan on the bottom of the page

a great player he is like a bull in a china shop in midfield and he would be a great asst to any club but we would be very said to lose him if he goes but if he does good luck to the lad.

He obviously likes him. I've not seen much of him myself, could toughen up our midfield a bit.

Like the look of the players we've been rumoured to have enquired about.

Rodrigues
Trotter
Butland
Powell
Ince

All young players with the potential to go far in the game. Our academy hopes are all 18 and under & our 1st team squad has plenty of experience so these signings would help bridge that gap.

See Rob Green has been released from West Ham. Could do worse than the England number 2.

Yeah, couldn't agree a new contract. I guess the writing was kind of on the wall with the rumours about Jussi J going there and also having just signed Henderson from Pompey. Also in accordance with their let's buy as many players as possible routine, they have apparently bid £4m for Grant Holt...

West Ham made 4 m offer for Grant Holt. No opinion myself, but why do you think Nigel thinks that Rodriguez is worth so much more?

Age and potential. Plus Grant Holt is with all due respect to him a much more one directional player than JRod. Seems like a good fit for West Ham who are likely to look tempting with higher wages than at Norwich.
