I have, and for a nearly 27 year old he's not really that great.

Besides I expect other clubs will offer him more wages.

I'd rather get someone younger that we could develop like Hoilett.

No offence, Affelay would excite me much more than Hoilett. Much better player but the publicity it would attract and its ability to enhance our draw for quality players should not be underestimated

Afellay is class, comes a wee bit short compared to Sneijder. But he is a good second choice for the Dutch squad after Sneijder and Van der Vaart. Great decision making, tactical insight and leadership. But lacks a wee bit in passing technique and speed to create good counterattacks for example. However, he is a constant factor in any team and is capable of bringing home the points all by himself if needed.

If you guys are able to get him for 6mil quid then you have a bargain.

    yay, my 100th post<party>

You've got to fill the bar with your 100th post. A landmark like that has to be remembered.

A drink for the Mackems might be remembered for the wrong reasons.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Cove again.

Dare I say it, IMO, better than Ben Arfa. Just loved watchimg him at Barca terrorise defences. Cove from what I can remember he even had a bit of pace about him also

Pace is normal, nothing extraordinary. He is a good playmaker and he can shoot from distance aswell. But no specialization in free kick or corner taking.

Affelay is 26, nearly 27, Hoilett is 21.

Hoilett scored 8 goals this season for a relegated side. Plus he assisted quite a few and has shown he's got a decent right footed finish and, potentially, can slot a player through very well.

He'd be perfect for us, plus he's got time to develop.

    I'd love to see -

    Hoilett--------Cisse-----------HBA

and Cabaye just behind them, with two DM's in support.

Hoilett aint the strongest defensively, but neither was Ben Arfa when he came, and we managed to turn around Ben Arfa, but Hoilett is even younger, and we could turn him into a fantastic player.

Hoilett would be a brilliant signing.

He's got great pace also, something we could use. Definitely faster than anyone we have, even Obertan.

All this is very true, but in order to make it to the top 7 next season, who would you rather sign, Afellay with a lot of experience and can do his defensive part. Or get a youngster to start off blank and needs alot of work at the start of the season? I would go for Afellay in this case. But if Pardew wants to start building a solid team that can last a couple of years, i'd take Hoilett aswell. But Pardew isn't Wenger or SAF and credit is easily lost in the EPL if a team hits a bad streak.

I agree that we shouldn't sign all young, and experience could really help us when coming to tactics and guidance, but in this case, I'd pick Hoilett any day.

And I don't get all these "if we don't buy right we wont finish in the top 7" ect.

The club will buy sensibly. Pards knows what we need.

Liverpool will spend big again, but there first signing, their manager, has already shown IMO that the owners know **** all about football.

Liverpool and possibly Everton will know doubt be challenging for top 6, but I believe we'll have everything we need to challenge for the top 4 and finishing in the top 6 at least.
