Paul Lambert gone?

At the moment with Randy Learner still at the helm of Villa if i would stay at Norwich, good club,fans and team spirt.....Villa could be on the slide.
And with the breaking news of Magilton being sacked by Ipswich villa could put him on their short list...
 
It's got to be about how far he can potentially take the 2 clubs.

Similarly to GS and us back in 04 he may have been told the transfer budget won't be huge this summer and survival will be the aim again.

With villa, although there team is pretty average right now they have an ambition to be a top 10 side again (Norwich fans were turning there noses up at us spending 7 million a few days back)
 
That's sad for Norwich. I like them and hope they do well but this will be a blow for them. FWIW I think Lambert's doing the wrong thing.

Yes, I agree with you. Lambert would be better off back at Norwich. It isn't because he's not capable. I just think he can do more with Norwich. Yesterday, when Rodgers was being talked about, I looked at the situation from Liverpool's standpoint and thought they'd captured a top manager. On the whole, I felt that the move was fine for Rodgers too. But I rate Lambert alongside Rodgers and yet I can't square the circle. Aston Villa, are historically, a big club. Not quite as big as Liverpool these days, but they used to be the more successful club, if you go back far enough. Perhaps Rodgers would be better off at Swansea, or maybe Lambert is making a good move by going to Villa..? Before I thought about it, I was sure. Now I'm not. ;)

With both Swansea and Norwich losing fantastic managers who will be very difficult to replace (something we have bitter experience of) - and potentially having players grabbed as a result......have we just achieved promotion in the best year for survival of the last 4-5 years?

Absolutley not having a pop at Swansea or Norwich....I feel gutted for both sets of fans and I think both managers have made a HUGE mistake. A great shame. And I think we all know that if Poyet goes to Swansea they are doomed, and their fans won't like the way their team plays the game under him.

I don't think Rodgers has made a mistake. I think he'll succeed at Liverpool if he survives the first year.

You could be right though as both Swansea and Norwich could struggle under new management.

I agree with this, I am not sure whether to be happy that two of our rivals will be weakened, or disappointed for them because they have both upset the big boys and played the right way. Or completely paranoid that we will do well next year and some big club will decide that Nige is their number one target. <yikes>
 
I agree that the stars are lining up to give us a good shot at survival. Norwich and Swansea will both have a tough time replicating their results of a year ago, which is a bit unfortunate as both did so well last season, Wigan and Villa (even with Lambert) are in flux, QPR a wild card, and neither of the other two promoted teams are markedly better prepared.

Not convinced that they can be successful playing Sam's style; Prem defenses are bigger, stronger, and keep their shape better. If they open things up a little however, they definitely have the talent necessary.
 
Swansea - Poyet?
Norwich - Mackay?
West Brom - Hughton?

Lambert did the same thing to Colchester - jumped ship for a bigger job. Norwich fans must be disappointed, but they can't hold it against Lambert because he has obviously got ambition, just no loyalty. A season treading water with Norwich was not going to improve the CV, and there will be significantly more opportunities to change things at Villa as they can improve on a really terrible season just by changing the players attitudes and some tweaking of the existing squad. Any player investment will be significantly higher than Norwich will be making so I can see exactly why he's gone.
