With what Lambert has done for them, do you really not think he's not entitled to have a little personal ambition..? With the best will in the world, Norwich are never going to progress much further than they already have. With all respect to Norwich City, they have been, and remain a stable club in a similar vein to Saints before our relegations and our present owners came in. Although they haven't done it for decades, Aston Villa are a former multiple League winning club, who will feel that European football should not be beyond their capabilities, and eventually higher still.
My comment about loyalty was not a criticism, I don't see a problem with him moving on to further his ambitions. Players rarely show loyalty to any club, so I wouldn't expect it from a manager. I hope we keep Nigel Adkins for many years, but if Liverpool came calling a few years down the line, I wouldn't be that surprised if he left us. Villa is a good move for Lambert, and it will be interesting to see what he can do with a higher quality squad, but he'll never play in front of as loyal a home crowd as he had at Norwich.
Oh ok. I consider loyalty to be a very good virtue, if well placed, so if one suggests that a person displays no loyalty, then my mind triggers criticism. FWIW, I think he'll do well. Wonder about the fortunes of Norwich City now..? That would be a hammer blow to them, in my opinion. They were very much his team.
Hopefully Swansea, Norwich and WBA take their time appointing their new managers. The less time the new guys have between walking through the front door and the end of the transfer window, the better for us and the other sides who be looking at those three as direct competition over the coming season.
