Bassini can't guarantee funding ...... new owners by end of week according to ex Wobby journo Kevin Affleck
I'm trying to find match reports of last night's game between Jamaica and Panama. If this can be trusted, Mariappa was due to play and considered part of their strongest team, but from the Spanish match reports I've seen so far it doesn't look as though he actually made the pitch. It also mentions that he missed training on Friday through injury. Hopefully it's not serious.
It seems as if this rumour is gathering pace. Jon Marks knows about it and Kevin Affleck is now saying that it is a wealthy European who will buy it. Supporters Trust welcome it if it turns out to be true.
Not wishing to spark a wild rumour here, despite the title of this thread. But has anyone read anything from someone reliable (Affleck, Marks, the Wobby etc) to suggest that the guy's surname isn't Russo? The only thing I can remember along those lines were from Bassini to the Wobby, categorically denying that he was a frontman for the Russos.
He also denied to the WO that he would be selling a month ago. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...assini_denies_takeover_and_investment_claims/ One of the names there has shown an interest it says.
From Twatter.... @WFCSuppTrust Indeed 'here we go again'. Hold onto your hats for a while but new owner will be great news for #watfordfc. The 'great news' bit would rule out the Salad Sisters then.
Be a shame if this summer is spent with more uncertain news off the field after the hard work by Dyche and the team to get us to 11th last season. It does worry me that although Bassini appears to have good ideas and supported Dyche quite well over transfers that we keep hearing he has a lack of funds etc. Might just be people anti-Bassini making up rumours ofcourse..
I see that Kevin Affleck is sticking with his story. Kevin Affleck‏@affers1178 @CLDWOOD It's about providing evidence of future funding. My solid information is that he won't be able to provide that today. From what I remember every FL club has to confirm that it will have the funding to get through the coming season, and the FL have their meeting starting tomorrow when such assurances have to be given. I am not sure if this rumour is correct or not, but do ask why he is prepared to stick his neck this far above the parapet if it is not true.
Also, assuming it is because of new owners coming in, I'm guessing GT feels they're more media savvy than LB and also have more funds available.
lets hope so Barry ,Here we go again ,never boring being a watford fan! would also explain why we have sold or bought in any players yet! You get the feeling the end game of last summer is now coming into play
IF someone new comes in then: 1. They need to let Dyche stay. 2. They must respect the youth system we have. 3. They must put the sand up. 4. They have to bring some financial stability for a few years.
