Kalou and Bosingwa have not been good enough this season and last 2010-11 season to be given a new contract. They have been poor for two seasons.
These 5puds think one good Champions League game (or a half, in Bale's case) makes you indispensible.
I'm glad he's going; he played his part but has been very average for the club. Obviously sad that the legend who is Drogba has left, but he couldn't have gone at a better time. For me it's: Out: Drogba Kalou Bosingwa Malouda Benayoun Mikel Turnbull In: Marin (Completed) Courtois (Loan) Hazard Hulk Falcao Modric Anyone else we don't expect
Mikel definitely to stay. I like your ins but far too ambitious!! No way are we gonna spend 150 odd million and nor should we. I also don't think it will aid Courtois to come and sit on our bench and I think it was a 2 year loan anyway. Marin and De Bruyne are coming in. One more winger at least (say Hulk) and that will be some pretty good business if we can promote some youth too.
Mikel out ?? when Essien has still to prove he has recovereed from knee injury?? your insane. As for the ins they are just flavour of the month , Football Manager names. Hulk is linked with us every damn season and I 'm sorry but all I see is a striker not fit to tie drogba laces. Modric has been avarge for spurs and the rest will have to prove themselves in english conditions and going to play in some muddy cold crap hoole up north during the winter, like nafield for instance. I think max we should only let 3 playes leave a season, as we don't want to disrupt the team too much. The most important question that chelsea faces is our we going to stick with solid defence , good tatical football with suberb strikers that has won us all our success or are we going to try and go done the Arsenal route, pretty football that wins jack!
I just don't like Mikel that much. Seems pretty average to me. And I don't think we'll get all those players, just in an ideal world. We definitely need two new strikers.
Mikel has done more than enough to be considered at least a solid squad player, was one of our best performers in the C.L semi and final. Not sure we need two strikers. We only play one up front and even with Drogs gone we have Torres, Sturridge and Lukaku. We do need some attacking players to replace Kalou, Drogba and Anelka but don't forget we have De Bruyne and Marin to come in and the likes of Piazon and Kakuta from reserves/youth too. For me, one of Hulk, Hazard or Lucas should see us fine as long as we can get the best from Nando.
Must admit Mikel has come on a bundle since Robbie took over but I prefer Romeu in that position, his tackling is much cleaner & can spot a pass quicker.
For me personally Out: Turnbull Bosingwa Ferreira Essien* Meireles* Malouda Kalou Drogba * I'm willing to give Essien another chance to see if he rediscovers his form of old and for Meireles to be a squad player to be called on when others are unavailable. In: Goalkeeper (an experienced Englishman like Robert Green to sit on the bench and cover for Cech would be good) Right-back Defensive midfielder Central midfielder (whose specialises in creativity) Marko Marin (already completed) Right winger Left winger (I know Mata's a left winger by trade, but we seem to be trying to transition him in to an attacking midfilder, like we did to Ivanovic from CB to RB) Striker (one who can replace Torres when he is injured, suspended, fatigued or underperforming) Loan: Courtois (keep him at Atletico for another season) Chalobah (to another Premier League side) Piazon (to another Premier League side) Lukaku (to another Premier League side)
Mikel has turned into a very very reliable player. I rate him very highly now. Does his job with no fuss. Hope we see more improvement next seasons he's only 25.
I take your point about Mikel as he was good in the Champs League in particular. However, Torres and Sturridge's form has been average of late, therefore I think we need a strong attacker to replace Drogs and then depending on Lukaku's form, I still think we need another striker. If Torres gets injured for instance. Torres & Falcao together = Deadly
Mikel came to us at a young age so seems to have been around forever. He was a tall strong attacking centre midfield in Norway. His game was built on power. We made him Makelele's replacement and no one could do that. He has stated many time he doesn't like the job, he wants to attack like he did as a teenager. The role he plays needs strength and vision and immaculate passing. I think he has been above average at it. As he gets older he can only get better in that position. We have played him plenty of times and has it really hurt us (same as Kalou really)?. Both youngsters have held their respective ends up in the team. Fans though play favourites. I've seen JT and Joe Cole play like pub footballers and get rated after as man of the match by the majority Chelsea fans, it was like I was looking in from a different universe and I just wanted to go around slapping people for being so non-objective. The only fan Kalou has it seems is the Optima stats. Last thing. I went a few times to see Chelsea train and I had a poor opinion of Mikel I'll admit, but in training he was incredibly deft on the ball given his size, his touch and weight of pass was fantastic.
Mikel is as reliable as they get and a no brainer for our squad. I like Kalou, seems I'm the only one, but I'd be off like a shot too if I was him. Malouda is not doing it anymore, can't believe we'd extend his contract. A creative midfielder like Hazard or Schnieder has to be our priority, with Lukaku, Kakuta, Sturridge in our squad, all quick as lightning. As good as Bertrand was as a winger, why not give David Luiz a look in there ?? We've got a lot of options before we decide on who to bring in. Stop wasting money, start building.
