A couple of my mates have said we have put a £6 million bid on for Jay Rodriguez, I have looked online and I can't find anything that has any sort of substance. Saints would never release the details of a bid but Burnley are free to do so, I can't see why they would want to let the public know of any bids on their players, according to my friends the bid was today but I don't know

its in the Echo now. Must be true.

 

The word last week was that our latest bid is £6.5m. Think Burnley are waiting to see if anyone else (i.e. Everton) comes in with a higher bid.

 

Anyone that says they're in the know of any transfer is a liar.

Just read the echo article, as they know everything that goes on at saints, I will be getting J Rod on the back of my shirt regardless if he has signed or not

 

I like this forum but comments like 'There is a transfer thread' really annoy me sometimes. Not all of us read every single post in every single thread, and tbh reading the transfer rumour thread from start to finish would be a touch pointless and confusing if you hadnt been keeping on top of every post.

I like separate threads like this where you can reasonably discuss topic at hand without other rumours mixed in. Just my opinion.

 

Except for Cork, Sharp, Lee, Hooper...

It's a valiant aim but if you make enquiries for players then there are other parties involved who can divulge information.

 

You're quite right. Some do get a bit anal about where you should post things. It's hardly like the old 606 where you had twenty threads pop up simultaneously.

Anyway, on JR, I'm a little surprised that we are in for him. My only logic to this argument is that I would have thought that if he was the man we really wanted, we'd have made it happen instead of the Sharp deal back in January.

 

Maybe I shouldn't have said that. In my defence I have an exam in an hour or 2 and in not a very good mood while cramming in some last minute revision.

 

Same here man. What I want to know is, is it still revision if you've never learnt it before?

 

I think Sharp was seen as the man who would guarantee the goals to get us promoted. I mean it worked didn't it?! Also it's great to have a poacher in your squad but not sure he offers enough for us in the PL whereas a more rounded player like Jay Rod would although he might not have made the same instant impact as Sharp did.

It most certainly did work out and you may have hit the nail on the head. I really haven't seen enough of JR to form an opinion and I am possibly confusing the debate on here (JR, Sharp or Maynard) with the debate that was going on at the club. There's no such thing as "guaranteed" goals but I guess that Sharp was just about as close to it as you could get!
