ROVERS have held talks with experienced midfielder James Harper about a move to the Keepmoat Stadium.

The 31-year-old is out of contract this summer after being released by Hull City.

Harper, who spent the 2009/10 season at Sheffield United after a nine-year stint at Reading, has met with Dean Saunders to discuss a possible switch to South Yorkshire.

Don't knock him too much. He helped us steady the ship. If I recall he also played in our best run of form in the 10/11 season.

Not good enough but a decent larker. Donny is a good move for him.

Why? Who do you want?

Nick Barmby ideally. I came away from West Ham very happy despite the loss. We could have had a 2-2 draw on the day but for Garcia being just offside.

But Nick had his targets all sorted to supplement what we have altready. It was just a fine tune up this summer to the squad for a proper push for automatic promotion next season.

Now its a complete mess from top to bottom. Current squad not happy and I would say we are miles behind other clubs at present. The Allams dont fill me with any hope at all. Nick has done a great job as a rookie manager and has done nothing to deserve whats happened. The reasons the Allams gave in the press are laughable.

The only manager who IMO is an improvement on what Nick Barmby would have been for us is Mad Mick McCarthy.

I would take McCarthy or Bruce, I wouldm probably be reasonably happy with Billy Davies. Want someone with a bit of experience
