If he really is after more wages, then the transfer request is just a statement of intent. It's just to show that the club has to meet him in the middle at least. Rooney did it at United a few seasons ago, and I expect there are more examples.

Whatever happens, Grant Holt has been a fantastic player for us. If he's gone before Drury's testimonial (unlikely), I'd like to think all Norwich fans would recognise this and give him a hero's send-off. Incidently, does anyone else feel Drury is becoming a bit-part player at his own testimonial??

I think he'd know better (Or his agent) than to try and push the club around. Supposedly Gary Doc was offered a new contract but asked for a year longer and was released.

Actually it sounds like you’re clutching at straws again…

It’s obvious to anyone without yellow and green tinted specs that Holt wants to hook up with Lambert again next season, hence the transfer request to lay a marker. You better get used to the idea that more of your key players are going to follow suit budgies.

What a fantastic end to the working week!:emoticon-0103-cool:

surely you've never done a days work in your life, Essix boy.

Where did you go when they closed Dale farm?

If as seems likely it is to do with money the timing seems quite strange. With the season only just finished surely negotiations have not been going on that long. So it would seem very drastic action to take when there is still plenty of time to negotiate unless a massive increase was requested.

A hell of a lot of hate for Holt on twitter. And from non-Norwich fans too...

'tosser', 'idiot', 'deluded', 'he's let it go to his head', 'I'll never go to White Hart Lane again if we sign him' are all real tweets from non-Norwich fans.

WFLGH.

I think the difference here is that his agent would know he can almost certainly get a deal elsewhere, if need be, for the second highest scoring English player. Also, as he's got two years left on his deal here, the club can't call his bluff and say 'OK, off you go then'.

Holty is the oldest player in a young team, if the money could be used to get J Rod then that might be a better piece of business than letting him leave for Carlisle in 2 years when his contract is up. Could be better for the teams future. that said i have no desire to he a legend leave and would never kick him out the door.

He tweeted about being on the radio yesterday and pulled out today. Something happened today wether thats a family thing which means he wants to move closer to Carlisle or a conversation with an agent persuading him he's worth more.

Whatever happens he has my support, i doubt this will end up being bad for us either way.

Never hard to find a moron on twitter, is it? ;)

If he can get a deal elsewhere, then it isn't just about money if he's threatening to leave the club. Frankly when his contract expires he will be about 34, and seeing we only paid < 1/2 million for him we wouldn't even have to cash in.

Relax, it's confirmed it wasn't as a result of another club's approach, it is going to be Holt's last chance to get a pay raise which he more than deserves.

The board should see sense and pay him more, £10k a week extra for our Talisman, Captain and Legend. If he goes, it will damage us considerably for next season, besides it will cost us at least £8m to get a replacement capable of the same goal contribution.

The sooner this bloody Villa job gets filled by Ole GS and Liverpool by Villas-Boas/other big name, the better.

Any other premiership teams look likely to jettison their manager? Or is it just these two?

That, I'm sorry, is the most moronic thing I have seen on this thread.

Firstly, two seasons worth of Holt is worth SO MUCH more than a transfer fee, if he can keep us up for 2 seasons more, that is £90m at least in income guaranteed, and who is to say Rodriguez would be a success at this level, let alone score 15 goals in a season?

You would lose not only the captain, inspiration, fan's favourite, leading scorer if he went!

I saw the report on Anglia News but because of background noise/low TV volume I couldn't quite make out what was being said. For a short moment I thought Roy Hodgson had changed his mind and included him in the Euro squad. Then I came on here.........

So far I think its nothing more than a money thing, and provided he's not after a ridiculous amount that he knows full well we can't give, I say pay him and lets move on.

Oh, and I don't want ColdPoo_Mike to get banned. I think its far more entertaining to let him embarrass himself on here each day with his theories on Lambert etc.
