It just seems weird timing to complement Drury's loyalty when another player has just handed in a transfer request.

After reading it again I'd say there is nothing in it. Strange timing though its true.

Sorry I should have made it more clear, i have no desire to see him leave and know it would be a massive loss to the club, my point was more what the damage limitation could be and that he's already said he's not planning to stay longer than the end of this contract as he want to play for Carlisle.

I don't mean they have a deal lined up, just that his stock has risen considerably over the last twelve months. That would give his agent a considerable bargaining chip in negotiations (should that be what's happening). The transfer request could then be nothing more than the kind of firm arm twisting that the likes of Doc, Whitbread or Darrel Russell were never in a position to do.

I like McNally, the dark side comes out in times like this, McNasty to the rescue: defence of manager, reject transfer request, praises loyalty of faithful long-serving player...long may it continue.

I've always said that the most important person at Carrow Road is McNally, if you have a good CEO, nobody will take you for a ride @ transfers (fees/players).

Don't know if anyone has already pointed this out, but according to the BBC website the club have "refused to confirm that Grant Holt has requested to leave the club".

How much extra a week would you offer?, and what would happen if other squad members started the same tactic?

    Better :emoticon-0106-cryin

I'm sure that in the current circumstances, the Carlisle twilight ending can wait 4 seasons at least!

I just think that Holt leaving would be catastrophic to the club, whereas Lambert leaving would be a setback.

Indeed it is not 100% but if the information comes from the press association it is usually very reliable.

I'm a firm believer that the Captain should be the highest paid player, the only exception is the top scorer, but in this case Holt is both, so he should be the highest paid, everyone else is dispensable.

I'd say for absolute certain that there's no mileage in any story about Lambert being off and taking Holt with him so you can stop worrying about that one. I've heard from a couple of different sources than the two of them don't actually get on off the pitch. I've looked out for this whenever Lambert talks about Holty and it does confirm that.

I'm still in shock about this, I'd just finished a crappy week at work, was looking forward to the weekend when my Mum called and dropped the bombshell.
    I almost dropped the phone.
Last thing I needed to hear.

If he's got his reasons then that's good enough for me. He doesn't owe us anything, what he has done for this club has been nothing short of incredible and if he does move on then hell yeah I'm gonna miss him like hell, but it will be with my blessing and not a single hiss or boo. At least we'd possibly get a chance to say goodbye at Adam's testimonial, unlike with Hucks.

But I'm sure there's plenty of mileage in this one yet so let's not give up hope completely

    <ok>

Hang on, here's another thought - not a dastardly ploy to shift the last of the tickets for Tuesday's game is it?

If Holt was wanting this move because of family/moving up north reasons, would he not possibly say this on Twitter and apologise? I doubt it, but then again, I don't really know him.

There are really only three likely things going on here.
Either a club has come in and City have rejected their bid, for family reasons he's unsettled and wants to move, or it's about a better contract.

The lack of a firm link to another club, despite journalists getting the story of a request, plus (and perhaps fairly significantly) Simon Thomas's tweet, seem to rule out another club.

On the issue of his family, it is possible of course, but it wouldn't seem to fit with the impression we've had of him here.

That, to my mind, only leaves the new contract.

Hope I'm right, but I don't think he's going anywhere, not unless he and the Club have an almighty bust up over this.

Well unless Holt is on the moon (could be, after all its grant Holt), it must be true or he would have denied it on Twitter

Are you serious mate ? <doh>

Anyway, I've just heard a rumour from a pretty reliable source at Colney as to what's happened here. Now this might be complete bollocks, but this 'source' did predict the appointment of Rodent and several other events that came to fruition at NCFC over the last few years. I'm being told that PL and Holt have been at loggerheads over the last few months with his constant battle with his weight and his continuous eating of junk food. There was, alledgedly, a bust up bigtime resulting with Holt being put on the bench for the Liverpool game. Let's be honest we were all baffled by that. It appears Holt has thrown his toys out of the pram like a big kid. Like I say, could be complete bollocks only time will tell <ok>

Sorry, I know this post is going to play right into the hands of Mikey and the Binners, but WTF

God help us when things come to such a pass that we expect to get news on Twitter rather than from an official club statement!
