2 Burgers a day.... used to be 4

I'm guessing around 10-15k per week.

I think maybe he is doing it for a wage rise which he should get really, 20k or 25k.

I feel a bit betrayed by Holt if I'm honest... I can't think why he would want to leave a club where he is idolized! I guess it comes down that he'd rather be a player for another club than a legend at this one.

This is it really, isn't it.

When you think of the obscene amounts the strikers he's been outscoring must be on, who could blame him looking for similar?

He's not going to get it here, is he.

I really don't think so. After Morison and Vaughan came in last year, he was happy to fight with them for a place.
When he signed his current deal, he was untried at Prem level, and only had one proper season up front in the Championship.
Now, as he is the second highest English goal scorer in the Premier league, it seems that he would like his wage to reflect that fact.

You start giving everyone in the squad an extra £10000 a week, what are you going to use to buy new players?

now as much as i want holty to stay, if he's asking for something which doesn't work for the club, just as it appears whitbread was also doing, then its right that the club aren't held to ransom over it. its difficult of course because he really is a legend (that word gets overused but its true in his case). i'm sure there is a compromise to be found but the club are totally right to stop him demanding more than they can afford. of course, this may all be bollocks and not about money but i think when you piece everything together, it makes sense <ok>

Not exactly what Adam Drury needed four days before his testimonial.

Agree we shouldn't be held to ransom, but I don't think it is about money - not sure what - but you ask for my wages, you don't hand in a transfer request! I'm going to reserve judgement until I know the fact, but if he doesn't want to be here, I guess we'd have to reluctantly let him go, but maybe use him as a sweetner for getting his replacement.

I reckon you're spot on.

I don't think it's that he wants to leave, I think it's probably sabre rattling from his agent to twist the arm of the club into a new and improved contract.
But even if he did leave, there'd be no betrayal in it. Nobody has done more for this club on the pitch in my lifetime than Grant Holt. We've more than had our moneys worth from him!

Word is Barton on 80k a week

I'd hazard a guess that holt worth more than our skipper

Someone earlier posted probably the right situation. A big bid has fine in unexpectedly from a bigger club, holt wants to go, club say no, he hands in transfer request...and so it goes

With all due respect, as I know what it is like to watch good players leave one's own club, I think that it takes a very special player and person not to turn down an increase from 15k to 50k per week, however much they are liked in their current job. Especially if you attach more chance of winning trophies etc. I wouldn't be surprised if any QPR player left for top half club. Hope he stays and hope Lambert does too.

If he really is after more wages, then the transfer request is just a statement of intent. It's just to show that the club has to meet him in the middle at least. Rooney did it at United a few seasons ago, and I expect there are more examples.

Whatever happens, Grant Holt has been a fantastic player for us. If he's gone before Drury's testimonial (unlikely), I'd like to think all Norwich fans would recognise this and give him a hero's send-off. Incidently, does anyone else feel Drury is becoming a bit-part player at his own testimonial??

These QPR fans know more about this than we do! They seem certain its because he's been tapped up, but as far as we know, NO club has made any contact with us about Holt.

Actually it sounds like you’re clutching at straws again…

It’s obvious to anyone without yellow and green tinted specs that Holt wants to hook up with Lambert again next season, hence the transfer request to lay a marker. You better get used to the idea that more of your key players are going to follow suit budgies.

What a fantastic end to the working week!:emoticon-0103-cool:
