He has made a request and it has been turned down. All we can do is speculate and that isn't generally useful.

He's a professional footballer which means he does it for the money and for a guy at 31 near the end of a career that only kicked off a couple of years ago that must be at the top of his agenda. If anybody thinks they would be different I don't believe you.

He isn't going to throw it all away out of loyalty to Wilbraham or anybody else, he isn't looking to get out before Lambert leaves, why would he devalue his worth at Norwich on a throw of the dice that somebody wants to sign him and pay him more for longer.

The only thing that make sense is that it isn't a throw of the dice, somebody has come in, the board have turned them down and he sees a better payday with them. This is his only real mechanism to try and force the issue. It's not about kicking the club or it's supporters in the teeth it's about a young man with a family wanting to make the most he possibly can out of the limited earning time he has available.

I'd wait and see what the outcome over the next few days looks like and then debate it but for me you can't knock him for wanting a better pay cheque, it's not like he's had years of high earning to salt a stash away.

On the Grant Holt front I can confirm that it is not because there is an approach from another club. Make of that what you will. #NCFC

Lambert and Holt this rumour as a joke. They are currently knocking back a few beers laughing at this media rumour mill going into overdrive ;)

Ban him, he's not funny anymore

Out of interest does anyone know if transfer requests are handed in by the player in person or done via an agent?

I asked my friend Danny Kedwell, who plays for Gillingham and he said normally it is the agent who approaches the club with the transfer request but he has to discuss it with the player first, he cannot put a transfer request in without the player saying so, however sometimes the player puts it in himself.

It's Man City, Aguero has said that he will put in a transfer request unless he plays alongside Grant next season!

def info!! <ok>

<laugh>

This is football guys, **** happens. I'm massively, massively shocked but it isn't the end of the world. The rumour mill will continue to turn, but I honestly think it has nothing to do with Wilbraham, or money. Yes, Wilbs was a good friend of Holt's, but Holt needs to think about his own career when making these decisions, not someone else's - he's not a petulant child. As for the money, I think Holt's too intelligent to jeopardise his entire reputation for a bit of money. They'll be more negotitations before that, and I don't think they'll have had them. If he does want more money though, give it to him - he's worth more than goals.

As a final thought, I've always been of the belief that Holty never seemed to care as much about the club as other players. I've never expressed these thoughts aloud though - I thought I was just being paranoid, until now.

WFLGH.

Dear old Mike, thinks of us as rivals even now.

No matter how many 'smilies' he puts in his posts, he still comes across as rather sad.
