Starting next season players and managers alike will be subject to this new initiative. Now I have no complaints about this, buts lets be totally honest here, respect has to be earned, and not just expected. Its all very well referees and their assistants getting things wrong, I just wish that they would have the guts to come and admit it now and again.
Time after time we have seen incidents which as spectators we know what has happened and yet for some obscure reason the officials see it differently from everyone else. What I would like to see starting ASAP is for the fourth official to have a more hands on role in decision making. All Premier league games are televised so why can he not have access to a monitor so that contentious issues can be looked at and the correct decision arrived at. We already have the technology at our disposal so why not embrace it.
At the end of the game I would sooner be discussing the good things that took place during the game, than cock-ups by officials. By the way can anyone remember the directive that players brandishing an imaginary card to have an opponent booked, should in turn be booked themselves. Yes that didnt last long did it.
 
The refs do need more help .Although they also need to be more stronger themselves . It really pisses me of when players and managers intimidate them . What do people think of a sin bin for players . It could work If managed correctly .

I would certainly be in favour of one and if your sent there three times in a game then your off for an early bath.
 
What about a sin bin for refs?

Most of them act like Brian Glovers PE teacher in KES.

Personally I would have referees drafted in from ex players, not all professional footballers are set for life with money.
Ex professionals know the game and what to watch out for, it would mean the end to diving which really gets my goat!

Too often these days the referees are quite clearly guessing or reacting to players claiming around them.
If they didn't see an incident FFS don't whistle or flag for it.
Just another reason to bring in technology.

Already today Napoli v Lazio in live play a goal hit the bar then went over the line, clear goal the linesman and Ref didn't give it. An official watching the match on TV would have been able to tell the Ref it was a goal instantly.
 
Cant disagree with any of your points there MackemsRule, except to say that there are a lot of present day players who dont know the rules, some dont know the difference between a direct free-kick and an in-direct one and as to why they are given. Ex pros would be better than the lot we have now. In my younger days those that could play did. Those that couldnt refereed. I think that adage tells us all about todays refs.

Aye mate hear what you're saying about knowing the rules.
But as a side note the ref in the Napoli game gave a player 2 as in TWO yellow cards the same player was still on the pitch at the end of the game. :p

Mensah wins the ball and gets booked, Kolarov scythes a sunderland player down and gets booked. Same offence, bollocks.
 
The refs don't deserve respect at the minute.

I'm not talking about our game, i'm talking season in general.

Big team bias still reigns supreme, and massive decisions are given incorrectly every week.

It's hard, and incorrect, to respect incompetence.
