http://www.marca.com/2012/05/11/futbol/equipos/barcelona/1336689492.html 40million Euros? What do you think lads?
That headline reads "Barcelona reach an agreement with Bale." Yet, strangely, there isn't anything about this on the Spurs official website, or in the English press, or even in the BBC's gossip pages. My assessment? The story is complete bollocks. Oh, and in the body of that article, it talks about Barca needed to find a left back, and Bale has emerged top of their list. Bale doesn't want to play at LB any more, and any top team putting him there is (a) weakening their formation, and (b) not using Bale in a way that exploits his full abilities. Finally, Bale still has 4 years to run on his current contract with us. With Levy having already made it crystal clear that we won't be selling any of our top players - and having already turned down £40 million from the Chavs for Modric - 40 million euros for Bale is not only taking the piss, but the idea that Levy would let him go for twice that is simply laughable. It's not going to happen. Full stop.
Firstly it should be remembered that Marca is the more or less the official mouthpiece of Real Madrid. Secondly, it says that the fee is 40 million euros - I can't believe we would accept that, it's around £32mm at current F/X rates. It also claims that Bale has singed for 5 years at €5mm tax free (limpio means clean in Spanish) per season. All in all, given the source of the story I would place very little credence in it. Even if there were any truth in it, it would still need the agreement of Levy - I can't see that happening, and certainly not for €40mm.
they would have to pay more, complete Bollox story,as harry said every chance he get's he goes home to see his Parents, would'nt be easy from Spain
People in England always seem to give a lot of credence to anything in Marca just because it's a foreign paper and doesn't have the reputation in Britain of being **** like most domestic ones do. Levy has been out of the country for awhile now and I can't believe he'd be sorting out the sale of one of our best players, telling Redknapp about it over the phone. Plus we could get a lot more for him, this isn't a Fabregas type situation where Barca is the only club he wants to go to.
On a serious note Bale has been anonymous in many of the matches this season and would be quickly dropped at Barcelona if erratic form continued for too long. The competition for places there is stiff so a lot of thought would have to go into a transfer first.
lets hope he's out the country sorting out strikers for next season. Apparently Defoe asked to leave in Jan. He's hardly played since, so I'd say the chances of him leaving this summer are even more likely : http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7748301/Defoe-asked-for-move Now there's reports of the NY Red Bulls wanting Ade: http://www.sport360.com/article/new-york-red-bulls-prepare-shock-offer-man-citys-adebayor? (a crap source, I know.) The talk of Bale leaving will carry on all summer, regardless of whether we make it into the CL. Hopefully levy will stand his ground, like he did last year over Modric. I wish the media would focus on another club. it's very frustrating having to read all this every season. Still, at least it goes to show that we've got some real quality that other clubs are desperate for, despite how opposing fans tell us that those players are "average" or "overrated"
He may have played one or two games that were below his usual standard. However, he's an exceptional talent - a highly dangerous weapon to have against you. For that reason, no sensible opposing side could ignore that. You have to legislate for him. If you don't, he can bury you. In short, he can just do things that most other players can't - that's why he's so valuable. Also, don't forget his age. He's still young. And the scary thing for any opponents is, he's probably only going to get better.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7748301/Defoe-asked-for-move hahaha, what an absolute mare i've had there! (by the way, I was told that show was supposed to be good) #massivecopyandpastefail not 606 "linkfail" award?
For what it's worth I don't see Barcelona moving for Bale. I do see Real Madrid going for him though, more their sort of player really; the "give and let him have a go" type of player. Much more Madrid than Barcelona.
Ronaldo operates where Bale does, so I don't see that at all. His close 1-2 passing isn't up to Barca's standard either, so he needs to brush his game up here before sodding off to Spain imo. Fabregas for example, a top player in our league, looks a bit lost in that team.
Yeah, yeah, yeah... on Wednesday they were buying Alba because 30m euros was too much. http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/barcelona-decide-alba-ahead-tottenham-ace-bale-3164211 If I were the conspiracy-theorist type I might think that this is a deliberate attempt to unsettle the team ahead of Sunday, hoping that we then fail to qualify for the CL and making a Bale transfer perhaps more likely.
