40million Euros?
What do you think lads?

That headline reads "Barcelona reach an agreement with Bale."
Yet, strangely, there isn't anything about this on the Spurs official website, or in the English press, or even in the BBC's gossip pages.
My assessment? The story is complete bollocks.
Oh, and in the body of that article, it talks about Barca needed to find a left back, and Bale has emerged top of their list. Bale doesn't want to play at LB any more, and any top team putting him there is (a) weakening their formation, and (b) not using Bale in a way that exploits his full abilities.
Finally, Bale still has 4 years to run on his current contract with us. With Levy having already made it crystal clear that we won't be selling any of our top players - and having already turned down £40 million from the Chavs for Modric - 40 million euros for Bale is not only taking the piss, but the idea that Levy would let him go for twice that is simply laughable. It's not going to happen. Full stop.

Firstly it should be remembered that Marca is the more or less the official mouthpiece of Real Madrid. Secondly, it says that the fee is 40 million euros - I can't believe we would accept that, it's around £32mm at current F/X rates. It also claims that Bale has singed for 5 years at €5mm tax free (limpio means clean in Spanish) per season. All in all, given the source of the story I would place very little credence in it. Even if there were any truth in it, it would still need the agreement of Levy - I can't see that happening, and certainly not for €40mm.
yeah it's an awful 2 hour flight. About the same as the drive along the M4.they would have to pay more, complete Bollox story,as harry said every chance he get's he goes home to see his Parents, would'nt be easy from Spain

.Levy has been out of the country for awhile now and I can't believe he'd be sorting out the sale of one of our best players, telling Redknapp about it over the phone. Plus we could get a lot more for him, this isn't a Fabregas type situation where Barca is the only club he wants to go to.

On a serious note Bale has been anonymous in many of the matches this season and would be quickly dropped at Barcelona if erratic form continued for too long. The competition for places there is stiff so a lot of thought would have to go into a transfer first.
Apparently Defoe asked to leave in Jan. He's hardly played since, so I'd say the chances of him leaving this summer are even more likely : http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search?q=Grandma's House

For what it's worth I don't see Barcelona moving for Bale. I do see Real Madrid going for him though, more their sort of player really; the "give and let him have a go" type of player. Much more Madrid than Barcelona.
