I'd be having a look at the striker at Wycombe, 3rd top scorer in a team that got relegated. Stuart Beavon
Oh, forgot to add: Why the **** not, this is a forum, and this is the transfer rumours section. Thanks
Indeed. Another good point about Billy Davies is that he is well connected in the transfer market and has a good understanding of how it works which is what we need now with Adam P. gone.
No chance. One season wonder. 20 goals this season. 7 goals in 2 other seasons combined. If he'd just turned 22 or something fair enough, but he's 28.
ridiculous comment. This is his 3rd season of league football. It may have taken 2 seasons to get used to the demands of league football, he may have been played as a winger? He scored a lot of goals in non league, 2 seasons of getting used to, or being played out of position. One season up front in a relegated team in a higher league, and he's scored plenty. Worth a try, but conjecture, as I'm not the manager.
Steve Morison and Chris Smalling both say 'Hello'. Both come through non league, both now playing at the highest level, both with international honours. So, yes, ridiculous.
Smalling's not really a very good example, he was a Premier League player by the time he was 17/18 and he only ever played a dozen non-league games.
Still came from non league How about Grant Holt, Michael Kightly, Jason Roberts, Ian Wright, Steve Finnan, Stan Collymore, Kevin Phillips, Stuart Pearce and Les Ferdinand. All players plucked from non league to play in the top flight, interesting most are attacking players!
Ok here goes. OLM already covered Smalling. Grant Holt was playing League One football by the time he was 22. Michael Kightly went to Wolves aged 20. Jason Roberts also signed for Wolves at a young age - 19. Ian Wright? The Arsenal one never played for a particularly ****e team, and the one who played for us in the 90s hardly had the best of careers, we were pretty much the highlight of it. Plus he only went to the non-league after we got rid. Steve Finnan left Welling for Birmingham when he was just 19. Stan Collymore was also just 19 when he joined Palace. Kevin Phillips, Stuart Pearce and Les Ferdninand all joined Watford, Coventry and QPR respectively aged 21. Morison is the only good example you've given. I specifically mentioned age, so I don't see how any of those players argue your point.
I'd say Ian Wright was a good example, he went straight from non-league to the Premier League when he was almost 22, that's quite late to arrive in the top flight.
seems like rangers will have to start selling players at the end of this month to survive, sorry if this has already been covered, but does anybody know if sone aluko is buyable i think he'd be the perfect player for us iiiiiif he aint on huge wages and rangers need to sell. while were on scottish based players leigh griffiths on loan at hibernian from wolves has scored some corking goals this season, looks a good little player maybe worth a punt, has yet to make any appearances for wolves
Didn't actually realise that - I got his info from Wiki and for some reason it makes out as though his career began at Palace.
