i dont know how i want this to pan out, or even what i think about who at the moment..

as much as id love barmby to stay, part of me doesnt want it because i dont see how they can work together without some sort of resentment, no matter how well hidden etc..and every transfer window would be a potential ticking time bomb..
and even if we ended up with guardiola( and 5m to spend this summer, while that would be brilliant, there would still be a bitter aftertaste at the departures of nick and adam...
either way its going to be a strange summer imo
 
he's only saying Lee Clark because he currently has the best odds on some betting website.

lets not forget that all the odds were pointing to redknapp being named england manager.... its usually bollocks.

my money is on Davies
 
I think whilst choosing a new manager, we should bear in mind the potential attacking quality that many of our players have that we want to keep. I am not convinced that Mick McCarthy would inspire or improve them - he would likely need to bring in significant others.

Joyce or Clark for me. Possibly Ole but I don't know enough (or anything really) about him as a potential manager.
 
Curbishley is at rather short odds there considering the situation and the fact we're a northern club, I'd have thought he'd be 20+, and he can't have been backed down that low when Davies has been so heavily linked so could there be some connection for a different position that's confused the bookies?

AP definitely knew the business of football, so with someone like NP who's been around in the game he was a good balance as the DoF as he gave the business side and contacts to the Allams without being overbearing on the manager. With NB there's more need for someone to guide him, and less need for someone to guide the Allams on the business side, although they do still need the contacts.

Curbishley would fill that role quite well, and the previous problem with him has been getting him to move up north. If he was DoF he could spend most of his time in the South, still do all his media work, and just be around in Hull for press days, matchdays, and to meet with Barmby once a week.

The cost of it would throw me, but if there's been a change of plan regarding sacking Barmby he might be cheaper than the combined cost of paying off Barmby and hiring Davies.

Re the betting though, if anyone does have a flutter and Barmby remains the manager remember your bet was on the next Hull City manager, if Barmby stays you haven't lost your bet because we won't have the next manager, we'll still have the current one. It's also a good time to get your bets on for anyone else to be the next manager sacked, because they must have stopped taking bets on Barmby by now.

EDIT: Just for clarity when I'm talking about the cost. One way or another we're likely to be paying Barmby. I think Billy Davies full-time as a manager would cost more then Curbishley part-time as a DoF because he could keep all his media contracts in place as well.

CI's take on the manager situation...

In a time of crisis, the national press appear to be having a field day with some of the potential candidates being wheeled out for current incumbent Nick Barmby's job in the Sunday papers. Incredibly, as well as Billy Davies and Mick McCarthy being the supposed front runners for the job, Gary Megson and Phil Brown are now rumoured to be potential candidates for the City hot seat. Yes, you read that right... Phil Brown!

Regardless of the bobbins and number of pints you drunk last night please ignore what the national press are cobbling together. Our sources at CI Towers remain steadfast that Nick Barmby still has the job for the time being and a viable route to keep the City boss in charge at the Circle is being worked upon following his shock suspension. However, whether that succeeds - or indeed the two parties can repair the gaping damage - still remains to be seen.
