Allams say Hull City stars will not be sold
Hull City's star players are not for sale, Assem and Ehab Allam say.
the City owners reveal the club was approached last week for some players but the offers were rejected.
"We are looking at strengthening, not weakening, the squad. That won't change."
The Allams have broken their silence following the suspension of manager Nick Barmby and departure of head of football operations Adam Pearson.
While making no further comment about Barmby, the Allams confirm Pearson was self-employed as a consultant to the club and say reports he walked out over concerns about Barmby are incorrect.
The City owners scotch rumours the club is for sale and say their plan remains to push for promotion.
They also reveal:
• They had offered in January to fund a Premier League quality striker at a wage level of £30,000 to £40,000 a week for the remainder of the season.
• Assem Allam would have sanctioned the signing of Billy Sharp but Pearson and Barmby did not request him.
• They were disappointed not to finish in the Championship top six, given the club's £17m wage bill and quality of players, and expect to be in the top six next season.
"We will strengthen in the summer," Ehab Allam says. "There will be players going out off contract, and there will be players coming in to strengthen us.
"Again, it's all about sensible decisions. We have the added financial constraints of the Financial Fair Play rule and need to consider that but we are ambitious people.
"We didn't put £50m in to let the club slide."

I don't believe a word of this, the Allams want us the fans on their side and have said all the right things, I don't believe Barmby would turn down a Premier League striker and Billy Sharp.
Season passes going up!! Cheeky bastards, jus because they were the 3rd cheapest isn't a reason to put the prices up 10%! Football needs tp lower prices not hike them up.

For saving the club and injecting £50m I reckon we should show a little faith and lets see where this summer goes.
Sure, recent events weren't handled well, suddenly sticking the boot into 2 well regarded Hull City figures without having any form of statement ready was just plain stupid and was always going to create a backlash from the fans.
I was the same when I heard about it.
But then again we do have a high wage bill for this division, and even though we've put in some good performances we've also put out so dire ones.
I'm not sure what they've planned, but right at the end of thes season is the best time for a quick overhaul.
For all we know they've done all this to go for a real promotion push, to get in an experienced manager and strengthen the squad.
I dont want to believe everything they've said in a very calculated interview, but the timing makes sense if they want all the summer to restructure and make a real push for top 6 next season.
Who knows, but I'm willing to wait and see. Slightly excited and slightly apprehensive, but no-one is going to piss away £50m of investment.

I see people have already made their minds up that we'll be able to attract McCarthy.

Looks like all this statement has done is split the fans .Some on here will never trust a word the Allams say after the last couple of days some since they took over.Then you have the ones that want to believe in the Allams just because they came in and saved the club and this statement gives them that.I must of had a good 20 texts yesterday from mates that was pissed off at the Allams and 2 saying lets wait and see whats gone on.Today ITS ALL CHANGED FOOTBALL FANS EH.

I previously assumed we didn't sign any atrikers/players in January other than King etc becasue the owners refused to sanction such moves. NOT THE CASE!
Barmby & Peasron seemingly were united in the view that we were better off not signing anyone - such as Billy Sharp etc. Allams would have agreed to this. Barmby and Peasron wouldn't do it. Strange, the team clearly need a striker, anyone of better quality we could get. It was obvious.
The owners wanted to reach the play-offs. Great news that they did. They were willing (are willing) to invest further to do so, within reason.
This is 100% consistent with everyting the Allams have said so far since taking over.
Barmby and Pearson made their decision. NOT TO STRENGTHEN.
But, they were wong. We failed to score goals, we failed to reached the play-offs. They failed.
They are both paying the price for that now.
The owners have stated that NEW PLAYERS WILL BE ADDED IN THE SUMMER.
Also that: KEY PLAYERS WILL NOT BE SOLD - WITH BIDS ALREADY TURNED DOWN (we can assume Leicester again?!)
All that remains then, is for Barmby to either agree to stay (if the Allams are willing? seems unlikely?) or a new manager will be appointed. (Seems more likley.)
So, we start the season with a new manager, maybe even Billy Davies or Mick McCarthy and we strenghten the squad and turn down offers for key players (from Leicester).
Given that nobody wanted Nigel Pearon to leave in he first place - some upheaval was always likley. This is not the fault of anyone apar from Leicester and Nigel Pearson. What happened after that.... the failure to sign players in January and score goals to reach the play-offs - IS!
In a few weeks it will all be resolved either way - and it seems that the Allams are not will not allow the club to stagnate after all (seemed rather unlikley) and maybe we are going to move forward quickly now that Adam Pearson has gone.
Pearson is far too cautious..... always has been.
Barmby has made a very stupid mistake by going public with confidential (as in private!!!) information about his plans for the squad before agreeing anything with the owners of the club.
Looks like that and a fialure to reach the play-offs - when offered resources to do so - will cost him his job.
Fair enough. Albeit it a sad end to his Hull City association. He showed a real lack of judgement and is probably not ready to be our next manager on that basis.
We'll move onwards and I think upwards after this.

Opinions will change as more information and statements become available.
I dont think it's a problem people acting on the information they have when that's all they have; neither do I see a problem in people rethinking there stance once more information is available.
Time will tell whether the decisions over the last couple of days was the Allams having a power trip and then trying to fob us off. Or if indeed they have a plan in place that will see us as promotion contenders come the start of the season.

Hmm. It just makes me wonder why people don't trust the Allams, given what they have done at the Club so far (as in the facts) and their stated ambition.

If someone can offer reasonable debate as to why - I am happy to entertain the idea.
All they have ever done is put their own money into a lost cause to save it and try and take the club forward. Not the banks. Their own.
I don't see why Barmby and Pearson should be believed over Ehab and Assam Allam. Why should they?
It's almost as if conspiracy theories and mistrust are the 'cool' and 'clever' thing to tout around a the moment.

The problem is a lot of people don't know the facts.
Nobody is questioning the Allams for the money they put in to save the club (£50+ million).
The issue comes with what they are saying in public today in the HDM and what has been said behind closed doors are very different. At the moment they can quite easily spout off saying that they would have given millions in January both in transfer and salaries, but the reality of that is very different.
Nick nor Adam can come out and say the opposite because of the legal situation, so right now the Allams are saying what they think the fans want to hear, but apart from Jan 2011 we haven't spent any money on transfers, at which time they didn't know how much extra they would be having to put in to save the club.
If money was available, why didn't they make funds available for Nigel Pearson last summer? We signed a couple of loan players, and a couple of free transfers who had low wage demands, why would they wait to make funds available in January when transfer fees are always inflated, with less than half a season for a new player to blend in to a squad, surely you spend big in the summer if ever?
They're being very disingenuous, they refused to sanction Nick's player signings in January and now they pick the name of a player who we never went in for and said they would have sanctioned that one. If they were happy to pay for Sharp, why wouldn't they pay for Hammill?
There's no disputing how much we owe them for saving the club, but this stuff leaves a bad taste, they are handling this in the media in the same way they did negotiations with the council over the stadium. It's very disappointing.

You need all three parts of the story. We've had the Allams' version of the proceedings and now we need Barmby's and Pearson's.
They have categorically stated that they would have funded a short term deal in January to bring in a premier quality striker to the tune of £40k-£50k per week in an effort to secure promotion.

Not really bothered whether transfers were sanctioned or not. If we already have one of the highest wage bills of the division then the team we have SHOULD be performing and delivering!
If the Owners turned around in January and said you aren't having anymore money, we've got one of the highest paid squads in the division get them performing. Then that's down to the management team to make sure that happens.

I'm saying it might have been a very different interview if the Fail had asked the Allam's directly if they refused to sanction any of the deals that Nick requested.
Though I suspect if they had, the interview would have ended fairly quickly.
