I'm usually irritatingly sceptical about the motives of very wealthy men, but I had just about fallen for the Allam's story - "putting something back etc...". It seems that may have been wishful thinking. As Bryan Robson sadly made clear on last summer's Dispatches programme on club ownership, "football's not a sport, it's a business". That wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't a certain type of business where the dominant model of ownership now appear's to be one based on: * borrowing to buy and dumping the debt on the club * charging all your wordly costs to the club * turning club assets into personal assets * building a team out of loan players, free transfers and bargains * selling if a quick killing can be made, bailing out if not This model is parasitic, short-term and based on exploitation of fans, feeding on their loyalty and good will. If the Barmby/Allam era is soon to end, what can we expect in it's place? Look at Pompey's experience and let's be actively sceptical. I know I will be, in the future.
Inexperienced owners.....in football terms. They have an experienced advisor (AP) but they're probably not listening to him now.
If all this is true lets hope we get a decent buyer who see's sense and reinstates barmby. Lets face it though for those who'd like Pearson to buy it, he hasnt got the funds
What's going on? Thanks for speaking your mind Nick Barmby.......but it could have cost you your job. You can walk tall in the knowledge the fans are right behind you. You refused to grovel, laid your cards on the table but your media openness ruffled a few feathers. You're not stupid, you probably saw this coming. It's a pity the owners didn't share your ambition for the club. Can someone knock out a poll? Was Nick Barmby right to speak to the media about financial/transfer matters Yes/No (or something like that). Who should leave the club , Barmby or the Allam's
If he's been suspended he'll be saying **** all unless he wants it immediately turning into a dismissal.
Will there be a protest at the KC if the rumours are 100% true and confirmed, the majority of fans are behind Barmby, the Allams can't just dump him in the **** like this
Can i just ask how all of you Allam bashers expect him to get there 51 million back? How are they going to get that back by selling the players? The only way they can get their money back is by getting to the Premier League, why on earth would you all think there in it for that?
Ah you could be right, I have heard that the allams are in debt up to there eyeballs, and the reason barmby has been suspended was the fact he was told there was no funds and he would have to sell players instead !! thus leading him to having a right old ding dong, he will be put on gardening leave until sven or mclaren take the job !!!
