No you're absolutely right, all we'll have is a season of developing players with no PL experience into better players and a better knowledge of how to play PL football. oh and an improved squad, you're right we right in the ****e

not saying you will or you won't, but one season doen't make you established. Next season will be harder because you won 't have that fantastic attribute called momentum!
now you see i agree with much of that, because it inevitably will be harder, and i doubt any of us think we are in any way established, but there is little or no evidence to suggest, at this moment in time, that we are somehow in free fall and will even get sucked into a relegation battle next year, let alone be down with a record points low! you're all so desperate for us to fail that you jump on any little thing you can in the hope that it'll come true. its quite daft really...
if we finish 17th next season, that'll be success - it really is very simple. we have to stay up. that's a lot easier than trying to get up AND stay up. we've already done that. 2nd season syndrome is what you are going to be banging on about but its been shown before that its actually quite a rare thing for a team to be relegated in their 2nd season. so don't be so sure that we'll be in trouble. we only need to finish above three teams to be successful next season - you lot have got to finish above 22 others to guarantee yourselves success.

Not have any momentum? Seriously wtf? I'm sorry and don't want to offend but that's just utter drivel
Well ok, you have momentum but its of the losing variaty at the moment, look at it like this if you lose your last 2 matches (which you could well do) thats 5 defeats on the trot, that means getting a win early doors and if the fixture list hands you a hard start. mentally it would be very tough!

does that mean that ITFC have momentum going into next season as they beat Donny rovers last game? hmmm

you do realise that results don't roll over into next season don't you?
i mean, i see what you're saying but we'll almost certainly have half a new team come august - it'll be irrelevant. it'll be more about getting them all settled as much as anything.
But the mentally will not change supers, if you are so blinkered to think just bringing in fresh players changes that then you are more deluded than i first thought. the pressure will be on, supporters will not forget the end of the season defeats, the negativity will rise even quicker and that will pass on to the players new or old.
Trust me, if anybody should know of negativity its an Ipswich fan at the moment, because dispite all our failings at least we aren't blinkered by the rose tinted glasses, we know we are ****e at the moment and we will also know when we have improved. A wise man once said, Knowing your failings is the only way to know your true improvement!
Just to as a side note, just look at the sides that have gone up and the first half of the season really took it to the big boys. Hull and Blackpool are prime examples of the benefit of positive momentum, yet when that momentum stops they couldn't buy a win.

I tell you, it's amazing what a quote from Paul lambert re-iterating what he said in January about money and the premier league and a picture in the edp of him looking miserable(because he doesn't like to lose) can do.
The pinkun forum, as you probably expected, has exploded in negativity.

Fact is Guru, most of us on here know we're punching above our weight at the minute but we're enjoying the ride. I for one am certainly under no illusion that should we stay up next year it will be an even greater acheivement than this season. I do however, believe we will do so with PL in charge.![]()

actually Kickoff, I totally agree with you that staying up the second season is a bigger achievement. Your tactics (whichever you employ) are more well known, your strengths and more importantly weaknesses will be found out and its down to you. In short you won't be the 'unknown' anymore, and you success or failure is down to pure talent or lack of!
