Absolutely. Just waiting for "two players away from the title" threads to appear...

It was men against boys, and whilst it papers over the obvious cracks at Liverpool, nonetheless they stuffed Norwich this eveing. I predict second season syndrome for both Norwich and Swansea next season.

Both need to buy several players, a lot of teams make the mistake of sticking when they survive the first season and then live to regret it when they are relegated the following year.

    Evening all,

I have just caught up with all the results. Defenders seem to have gone for their summer breaks already! Has anyone seen or read the report on the Swansea game? I wondered if Caulker was at fault for any of the goals. I must say living down here in the west country I have seen him develop from his loan spells at yeovil and Bristol City to a very capable Premier League Centre half. The good thing with him is he has had regular first team football for the last three seasons and improved year on year. He had a bit of an indirect dig on twitter in january when we signed Ryan nelsen making remarks along the lines of not another central defender, bring on the summer.' i hope he realises with Ledley, Gallas on their last legs and Nelsen being short term, his services will be relied on next season and hopefully he can develop into one of Tottenham's greatest defenders.

What he does need though is continuing regular football and if that happens to not be with Spurs next season then another loan in the PL it has to be.

To be fair to Norwich, I think it is more "safe and nothing to play for syndrome." Hope both teams do strengthen and make a decent fist of things next season, especially if by some miracle the Spammers skulk back into the prem.

Evening DSIAG... I'm going to call you Dos if that's alright.

On the Caulker situation, I think he has to be in our squad next season. We certainly can't afford to be carrying 3 ageing, injury prone centre backs next season and assuming that Nelsen will not be given an extension on his contract and only one of Gallas and King was kept on he will be very much needed. Even if we miss out on CL football and he doesn't get as regular games as he has had at Swansea, I don't think at this stage that is as important to his development for us than training everyday with our team and coaches.

Good day for us in terms of rivals though.

  9. Following 'Pool's rare win (against the mighty and all-conquering Norwich), Gerrard is now claiming that Suarez is world-class <doh>

You'd have thought that they had beaten Brazil.

    Evening mate,

There can be no doubt that every time Caulker has been asked to step up in hjis career, he has done so with considerable ease. He also seems to possess a level head as every interview he gives, he comes across as a determined yet level headed young man.

I like the player, always have done, but I do think he might have more control over where he plays his football next season, than Spurs might think. I think his alleged twitter comments are quite justified and I have this feeling that if he suspects he might be returning to WHL merely to sit on the bench and only get the occasional run-out, then he might feel he is better to stick where he currently is.

He's been just about as "world class" as that mumbling, scouse waste of space has this season. Comforting to see it's not just Kenny and the fans that are deluded...

    Evening <ok>

I disagree, we've put him through our academy and paid his wages, if we want him to sit on the bench for a season then that's what he should bloody well do. Calling it sitting on the bench is a negative way of looking at it anyway, if he seriously wants a first team place then he has to stay and fight for it. You don't just get handed opportunities when it suits you in life, sometimes you have to wait for a bit of luck to show what you can do and sometimes you need a few chances to get it right. He's been presented with a challenge every season on loan and risen to it and the last challenge for him should be breaking into the Spurs first team, I don't see why he'd shy away from it.

Evening Spurcat , Yid vicous (ok)

I remember having many a chat about him with you on the previous site and like you say he does seem to possess a real level head on those young shoulders of his. All he can do is keep improving and hopefully he will get his chance sooner rather than later.

I was also delighted for harry kane again today. Another good finish from the young man. This seems to have been his most successful loan spell yet and it will be interesting to see if he can step up to the next level. One things for sure he will make a very good career out of the game.

I agree with all of that in principle. In practice, I have reservations because I do think that Harry (if still around), would go out and get 2 new CB's in for next season and play them ahead of Caulker. I just feel that despite his undoubted talent and potential, he would be 3rd choice CB at best next season, and more likely 4th. I hope I am wrong, just feel that's the way it might pan out, and I suspect Caulker's tweet hints he feels that way as well.

He's scored again has he ?? I hadn't caught up with that. Good for him, I bet he doesn't want the season to finish. A good player with a good future, although I do have resrvations about him. Fair play to him for yet another season of progress, can't knock him for that.

Yes he did mate. I know you have seen a lot more of him than I have coming through the ranks. Do you think a loan back out to the championship next season would be best for him? Perhaps back to Millwall for the whole season? What about other talent thats coming through. From what I saw of the next gen series i have to say I like Pritchard and Luongo. Soulymane looked a bit indifferent to the start of the season.... Although recently he has scored a few hasn't he?

If we get CL football next season then we'll need to use our squad a lot better than we did last time and being 4th choice centre back becomes a valuable position. If we don't get CL football then he can play regular Europa League football. I really don't understand why he wouldn't want to be a part of either of those scenarios. I'd hate for him to get disillusioned like O'Hara and I think these loan spells are detrimental to his sense of affinity with the club so I'd rather, much rather, he was encouraged to stay and fight for a place regardless of how he feels right now.

Yes I do think another extended loan in the Championship would benefit him. it's taken him a while to settle at that level and I do think another stint in that division would suit him best.

Pritchard and Massimo Luongo are quality prospects as you've heard me say before. I have high hopes for both of them and just hope they get given the opportunity next season to kick on. Coulibaly, I agree has dropped off as the season has progressed. I think there are a number of mitigating circumstances here, as there have been long and protracted problems with his work permit which nust have affected him, there have been the usual dips in form which most young players go through, plus the hype associated with him has unsettled him.

I saw him play a couple of weeks ago and he had a blinder, good effort, looked sharp and bright and generally bullied the opposition CB's. Saw him again the following week and he was poor. That's where he is at teh moment - young, raw, brilliant and inconsistent. His time will come <ok>

I would rather have Junior Hoilett than Luis Suarez... I'd much rather have Yohan Cabaye to Steven Gerrard too.
