Anyone know how 2nd and 3rd will be decided if both Saints and West Ham have the same points and goal difference? Is it goals scored, how we faired against each other or a toss of a coin?
If we are relying on that I might just go & end it all now! God it close, just have to be professional on Saturday & we'll do it, damn its close.
If they win both games, scoring a combined total of 4 and conceding 0, and we draw 0-0 with Coventry, it's level on goals scored
Then extra time, then penalties! (As long as we can disguise Rickie as at least 4 other players, we'll be fine!)
There was a time when position in the PL could be finally decided alphabetically...this would have been unfair, but I quite like it in the case of West Ham.
Have to disagree, head-to-head can hang on the result of one game, goals scored rewards positive play throughout the season. Not that it really matters, it rarely comes down to that over the course of a 40+ game season of course! And in the champions league group stage.
I think the English leagues chose GD and goals scored as a way of favouring attacking play. Head to head could be said a fair way to differentiate between sides (especially as it favours us) but could be said not to reflect the whole season. Both systems have merits, but I only want the one that promotes us. If West Ham win both their games and we only draw, there's a good chance they will go up on GD. Those recent defeats and their large win could be costly for us...best if we win next Saturday taking all things into consideration.
I thought Games Won was in there somewhere, which would make it US..! 25 wins to [by then 24]. Have we explored every bleeding scenario short of a massive meteorite falling on various random football grounds..?
Everything favours us..even blooming alphabetical..it should be given to us now before my heart gives up.
Blimey, that's a rarity. I still inwardly sigh every season, when I see the new league, and there we are, alphabetically fighting against relegation already. While teams like Arsenal, Aldershot and Aston Villa are often in the box seat, if only for a very short time, in some cases. And people think I'm overly optimistic..? Explain that one away.
