Shamelessly nicked from Al on CI, here's some footage of Hull in 1957. Kids playing footie and cricket on bomb sites, parades through Whitefriargate and fox hunting in Driffield: http://www.yfaonline.com/assetDetai...by=area&start=11&fromSearchValue=fromBrowseBy
That was so much appreciated. I was 19 in 1957 and can relate to much of that era. I had much fun showing "The Child-Bride" (Dinki-Di Aussie) my upbringing in my teenage years. Thank you so much.
Original...fantastic, I was eleven and lived just around the corner from where this guy was lodging. Frantically looking for myself in the film, no luck though...thanks.
Though he lived down the Avenues, it looks to me like most of it was shot between Anlaby Road and Hessle Road, obviously with some bits in Whitefriargate and Driffied. I found it quite moving, shame there was no sound to accompany the images. Anyone know where Coronation Fisheries was?
Good thread boss (even if you nicked the doc film). Coronation Fisheries looks as if it'd be in a street off of Hessle Road. I don't think I've ever seen it.
