This is a massive game. In all likelihood, this will be a bigger occasion than the Wimbledon game, despite all the brouhaha on B&A. We are just winning game after game, and victory on Saturday will see us mathematically promoted if either Torquay or Crawley lose, and almost certainly promoted if Torquay draw. The team are playing with real confidence at the moment, all the little backheels and flicks and one-twos are great to watch and they are coming off. The team (at home, really) never seem to believe they will lose. There is real belief, but also composure there, and I think it's indicative of a team on the up. Not that Brizzle Rovers kind of up, where you go from mid-table mediocrity to slightly higher mid-table mediocrity by virtue of beating **** teams, but a team on the brink of finally getting out of this god forsaken league. Goals have been Accy's problem this season, with no individual player hitting double figures in all competitions this season, and only 52 goals scored in the league this season. That's just 5 more than Crawley have managed at home in 22 games, as many as Bradford and fewer than lowly Northampton. Wimbledon, Vale, Brizzle and Morecambe have all netted more league goals despite being lower in the table than the Stanley, and all teams above them bar Aldershot have scored more. It's also not as if their defending has been anything to shout about either. One has to go down to Brizzle to find a team with a worse goal difference, and Bradford also boast a better goal difference than Accrington. Their porous concession of 31 goals at home this season is only outdone by 5 teams. Having given them the big "they're ****e" act, I think this will be a tough game and the one of our remaining fixtures in which we will have the most difficulty. If offered a point, I would take it right now. I expect us to beat Dagenham, and I can't see both Torquay and Crawley winning all three of their remaining fixtures. I don't care about catching Swindon, so long as we're in the top three! Lenny's GRANDISON Fact: There was once a word that rhymed with Orange. Grandison was offended by it, so kicked it into oblivion. Lenny's Prediction: Accrington 1-2 Shrewsbury (Wildig, Collins; attendance 4019)
Lenny, I am with you all the way - a top three finish is all that matters. No game in this league is a doddle but if our defence continues its excellent form (and Neal does seem to have his confidence back after GT stuck with him after Plymouth) we should be able to score a goal or two. I predict a tight 1-0 win with Collins enjoying the extra room he gets away from home and scoring. I cannot make the game but will be glued to the commentary if my nerves can stand it. I do not expect either Crawley or Torquay to lose and just hope it will be in our hands so that we can win promotion by beating Dagenham in front of the biggest home crowd of the season a week on Saturday.

Accy 0 Salop 2 (Collins, Gornell) 3600 I suspect Crawley will win their game, Torquay will draw & Swindon to lose.
I see that the clown who sent off McAllister is refereeing the Wimbledon v Torquay game tomorrow. Let's hope he can do something equally inane to redress the balance.
Our ref at Accrington has apparently issued 11 red cards in 35 games!! Let's hope he's calmed down now. A win today would be great to keep up our momentum and keep the jitters at bay. Will be leaving in an hour or so - never been to Accrington before and looking forward to it. It's the only home game I've missed this season too, so it means I'll have seen all the L2 sides.
rotties promoted, but lost 3-1 to gulls. rotties have 4 lamp posts, not a leg to stand on. with gulls losing and crawley drawing we could do with a win next saturday. shame about stanleys equaliser we had a chance of promo and possibly league champions
