Firstly congratulations to reading for getting promoted

But......... Slightly confused with Mcdermott's statement

"Since the seventh game of the season weve been top of this league by a long long way"

    WHAT?

Theyve been top for a week, dissapointing statement in my eyes

He means if you take the first seven games out of the equation.

Fair point then I suppose from game 7 they have been much better than us, but game 7 isn't when the league started. Thats why we can't say we deserve to win the league as its a 46 game season and not a 40 game season. Come Saturday week whoever is top are Champions and deserve it.

They have been bloody brilliant, fair play to him. I bet the fans of the likes of West Ham, Leicester and Birmingham were not expecting to see Reading and Southampton occupying the top two at this stage. Both clubs have taught them a thing or two about quality management.

Yes it is the managers and chairman that deserve a lot of the credit and contrast strongly with West Ham and Leicester with larger more expensively assembled squads.

and leadership at a senior level. Cortese and Madejski are two very sensible and highly professional business men with sound judgement.

As a Berkshire boy I am proud of what Reading have achieved but I love the Saints and am keeping my fingers crossed that Reading slip up against Brum and that we pip them to the title.

    Our boys deserve it.

"Since the seventh game of the season weve been top of this league by a long long way"

It's not meant to be an arrogant statement or anything, simply put that since we managed to get in Gorkss and settle the defence our results have been phenominal. Having a stable team has done wonders for us. Remember we had to rebuild after losing Matt Mills (arguably our best defender, and captain) and Shane Long, the beginning of the season was the Wembley hangover....

Thanks for the wellwishes guys - it still hasn't sunk in yet.

I think Palace might be their slip up, not Brum.

Anyone on here regret not signing Gorkss when we had the chance? Even just keeping him going to Reading might have changed things enough.

Reading have been very good and the places they have gone to and won prove their quality.

I had a look at our return fromt he bottom 4 and it dopesn't make to pretty reading:

    Bristol - 0 pts
    Pompey - 2 pts
Coventry 3 pts (obviously a game to play)
    Doncaster 3 pts

8 from a possible 21 - we should have done better. Never mind we are still very much in the driving seat for 2nd place - always the bridesmaid!
