But no, it's a childish whingefest about "Ceptic" players, fans, manager, irish tricolours, Peter Lawell, our board and how we apparently didn't applaud you sufficiently. <laugh><doh>

We did celebrate our cup win in a way that the old scum can only imagine,open top bus parade through your home town,minimal police presence because they knew that there would be no trouble, the congratulations of every other diddy team in Scotland and yes even our nearest rivals grudgingly perhaps.A media presence we are unused to, the kudos from beating one of THEM in a final to deny you the stick on treble.

All that and the added bonus of trolling and catching you <magic><whistle>

Why is it you find it hard to accept that not all Celtic (and Rangers for that matter) fans are complete and utter bigots or would happily talk about the Old Country all the live long day or send each other bombs.

Are you happy to ignorantly stereotype us all in a convenient little parcel? Perhaps your opinions are pre set and intolerance of the OF comes naturally.

I don't know because I only knew one Killie fan and he was brand new, did'nt particulary care for Celtic or Rangers but he certainly did not despise them unlike what seems to be a unanimous feeling among Kilmarnock fans, and that's tone of this thread unless I miss my mark.

I for my part responded in the manner you EXPECTED us to respond, I know AP and Pud, and they are intelligent individuals so I interpreted their responses as being similary sarcastic, responses that fit your prejudices.

Maybe i'm wrong though, maybe you guys were restrained and philosophical, urbane, witty with a hint of mischief making and devilment.

I can't speak for the others, but I don't hate anyone because of their football believes.

As for stereotyping OF fans, if you, AP and Pub are intelligent individuals who resort to the type of comments made by the morons, how can we avoid stereotyping. Living in Ayrshire, I know loads of OF fans. They are not all bampots. In fact, I regularly have meaningful debate with my OF supporting friends.

An anecdote from recent matches. I drink in a staunch Killie pub in the town. After the cup final, one of the few Celtic supporters who also drinks there came in after the match. He was sat on the bar while the whole pub snag "Oh! Spot the Loony"

Last Saturday after the 6-0. He was given the best of order while he sang a solo version of "Championeeeze!"

Could that happen in your local?

What type of comments did we resort to? Oh that's right, we responded in kind to ignorant attacks on our fans behaviour.

I'm sorry, your fellow Killie fans were only joking, their comments were "tongue in cheek"? I obviously missed the subtleties, me being just another daft Celtic fan, we don't do "subtle" we are purely reactive in our arguments.

As for singing in my local, (are you assuming I live in Glasgow?) I don't drink much and I prefer to watch games at home on my own TV where I can react however I like without upsetting the sensibilites of other football fans- whichever team they may support.

As for avoiding "stereotyping", maybe football forums are not the best example on which to base your opinions of others as they can be deceptive. People hiding behind a veil of anonimity will perhaps say things they do not actually believe to be true or say certain things only to get a reaction.

Maybe that's why your fellow Killie fans spoke as they did, I hope so, otherwise I would perhaps start to believe that ALL Kilmarnock fans are as stupid and bitter as the ones on this forum.
 
The default position of the average OF fan is to try to deflect from their failings by the best and most often used at a match, shout loudest and longest ( metaphorically speaking of course) to my view the "attacks" were'nt ignorant in your language.Just our view put in " fans speak" if you will.No more ignorant than presuming David Ng listened to rangers " in the jungle on his coconut radio"???I found that quite amusing but the PC brigade which you are purporting to represent here with respect to the OF, wouldn't

What disappointed me most at the cup final was the celtic players non appearance when Killie collected their medals, at our 2 previous Cup finals Killie applauded Hibs and Celtic up the steps.What the fans do afterwards is very much an individual thing but for your opponents not to show a modicum of respect,even through gritted teeth, is disapppointing and one which I am sure Jock Stein would not have let happen.

All football fans to some extent have an ingrained opinion of the OF because your teams are the most reported about and as we all know the media in Scotland love a good story that portrays the divided city that is Glasgow.That to a great extent is what we see on the OF forum on not606. The bile and anger posted on the OF sites were not toletrated on the original 606 but here they are minimally moderated by like minded individuals.

I agree with your presumption that some fans do hide behind anonymity and say things to get a reaction but I put forward the theory that the vast majority that do that are OF fans where "double triple quadruple??" identities are common ,I read a thread on the CFC board discussing this very point.

The contents of this and probably the vast majority of threads on this forum would be openly and laughingly discussed at most hostelries around the world, no one would take offence and drinks bought by all parties concerned.Just put it on a computer screen, take it out of context, no face to face contact to see how the respondee reacts and you get the inflamed language we see here.

As for my local, I tend to avoid "football pubs". Too full of drunken idiots singing solo versions of "championees" for my liking <ok>
 
Surely any half intelligent manager would keep his players on the field to applaud the winning team, not just out of Respect, Responsibility and Tolerance (im sure that was a tagline of a certain competition hmmmmm) but to rile his team and drive them forwards to winning the other cup tournament still available to them?

And out of interest back to the original discussion on this board, celtic players diving and cheating, did you see Ki's attempt and the two that wanyama got away with?

Celtic (dont want to use septic and hurt your wee feelings) really need to reduce the time spent at training on simulation and PR skills and more on how to header a ball using ones forehead!

I've honestly never once after watching a final that Celtic have won paid the slightest attention to the opposing team or fans. I couldn't tell you what they did or didn't do. Mainly because I couldn't give a ****. Winning a cup is a cause for celebration and I certainly don't need opposition fans' or players' applause in order to do so. I find it beyond weird that you chose to concentrate on an apparent lack of applause from the opposition when you've just won your first major trophy for a good few years. It strikes me as an entirely joyless and incredibly bitter way of "celebrating".

As for Ki on Sunday, yes it was a poor and vaguely embarrassing dive, he couldn't have complained had he been booked. Don't recall Wanyama diving at all. No doubt you'll tell the very obvious foul on the right hand edge of the Hearts box was a dive?
 
No - all fair points IMO:

Playing in a tournament with the strap line "Respect, Responsibility and Tolerance" I would have expected the teams in the final to behave in such a manner, by showing respect to their opposition by watching them go up the stairs and lift the trophy (whether their fans show such common decency is by the by- their not playing in the tournament). also as stated the manager missed a trick by not making them stay and watch said proceedings and use it to fire them up to win the other tournament they had a great chance of winning.

After watching the highlights of Sundays semi final IMO Ki dived in the box at the end to try and win a penalty and didnt get the yellow he deserved for cheating. Wanyama twice at the edge of the box simulated being pole axed when he was barely touched, again IMO two yellows that could have got him sent off for cheating.

And also from said highlights either Ki cannot header a ball off his forehead or he has a 50p heed - two gilt edged chances that would have taken your team into the final. And the sarcy comment about the PR skills is obviously reference to NLs complete lack of said skills again a fair point IMO.

And I dont Loathe OF firms - I find it humourous at the thickness of their blue or green, "tinted" is probably an understatement, specs.

What is the "average" OF fan? Do you have a checklist or something? Please, don't generalise, it sets me on edge when people do it and I tend to think i'm dealing with an idiot even though that may not be the case.
I did not say I represented the PC brigade (whatever that is), that is solely your assertion, my point all along was that I, like many OF fans are not interested in religion or Ireland or any of the other accusations which are thrown at ALL OF fans, I know that's a bit of a shock but it's true nevertheless.

Regarding the 2 Previous cup finals where the losing team stayed behind to applaud the winners, i'm afraid I only have your word for that because I either, A: did not witness it or B: did not notice it, (Probably so happy to have won that I was not looking to score cheap points) and as I explained already, I turned my TV off after the match so I did not know (and still don't) whether Celtic remained behind to give Killie a hearty well done, personally I think they should have, but I would also understand if they did not, Human Nature and all that Jazz.

As for Glasgow being a divided city, that's only partly true, in my experience the worst bigots don't come from Glasgow but Ayrshire and Fife (I'll leave other clubs out of this but Celtic and Rangers certainly don't have a monopoly on bigoted roasters within the fanbases).

All that being said, it seems at least as if we have reached a sort of consensus. <ok>

I didnt notice the celtic team werent there as I was too busy celebrating - only found out on here after and thought it showed a lack of class and therefore commented on it. (I did notice how quickly the celtic support walked out and commented on it as it was something that amazed me the day I was at scottish cup win when the entire Falkirk support stayed as long as the Killie fans!). Applaud was the wrong choice of word, I admit wouldnt expect that, but would expect them to actually be present. Maybe that etiquette is a thing of the past now, but the way I was brought up was to show such common decency.

Do things always happen as "You expected"? I would hazard a guess that they don't.

Your life must be one constant stream of disapointment.

As for the alleged diving (Cheating) did Stokes DIVE should be the question you are asking, as the alleged diving by Ki and or Wanayama were not "game changers" I find it awfully strange (or convenient) that you did not see fit to call Stokes "a cheat" so one must assume (which you can be sure I do) that Stokes should have had a penalty.
I have no complaints about Kilmarnock winning the Cup, well done to them and likewise well done to Hearts, but if you were a Celtic player who felt he was denied a blatant penalty in the closing seconds of a Cup Final would you be so magnanamous in defeat?

I suppose we'll never know as it's easy to say what "you would have done" when you will never have to prove it.
